Polish composer Jan A.P. Kaczmarek, who won a 2004 Oscar for “Finding Neverland,” died Tuesday in Krakow, the Polish Music Foundation announced. He was 71 and had suffered from Multiple System Atrophy (Msa) in recent years.

Also among Kaczmarek’s 50-plus film and television scores, mostly from the 1990s and 2000s, were “Unfaithful,” “Bliss,” “Aimee and Jaguar,” “The Visitor” and “Get Low.” He also scored the lavish four-part French-Italian miniseries of “War and Peace” in 2007.

Kaczmarek had one of the most unusual backgrounds of any film composer of his time. Born in Konin in 1953, he was educated as a lawyer. But he abandoned a planned career as a diplomat to compose music for an experimental theater company, headed by avant-garde theater director Jerzy Grotowski, in Poznan during the 1970s.

The Tribeca Film Festival announced its jurors for this year’s event, which runs from April 16-27. The list includes Toni Collette, Lake Bell, Whoopi Goldberg, Catherine Hardwicke, Heather Graham, Anton Yelchin, Paul Wesley and 26 other leaders of the filmmaking community.

In addition to the Festival’s main competition juries in seven categories, Tribeca named Delia Ephron, Natasha Lyonne, and Gary Ross to select the second annual Nora Ephron Prize, which awards $25,000 to a female writer or director.

Like Crazy star Felicity Jones has joined James Franco and Jonah Hill in the film True Story. The movie is being directed by Rupert Goold, and it's based on the memoir by Michael Finkel, who's the disgraced New York Times journalist that resurrected some of his career after discovering that an accused murderer had stolen his identity, and that he would only talk to his namesake. This sounds like it will be a really good movie, it's definitely got an interesting story.

According to Deadline, "Hill is playing Finkel and Franco is playing Christian Longo, who was captured in Mexico after rising near the top of the FBI Ten Most Wanted List for allegedly killing his family... We’ve got a couple of interesting casting stories to share this afternoon. First up, Felicity Jones (Like Crazy) has landed the female lead opposite Jonah Hill and James Franco in the drama True Story. The film recounts the head-spinning relationship between disgraced New York Times journalist Michael Finkel (Hill) and accused murderer Christian Longo (Franco). Deadline reports that Jones will play Finkel’s long-suffering girlfriend “who tries to stand by her guy even after his screw-ups cost them everything.” Rupert Goold (Richard II) will direct. Additionally, Stacy Keach has joined the ever-growing cast of Robert Rodriguez’s upcoming sequel Sin City: A Dame to Kill For. Variety reports that Keach will play “a chief villain,” mob boss Wallenquist. Brad Pitt and Jonah Hill must have enjoyed working with each other on Moneyball because they are teaming up again for a new movie called True Story, which will also star James Franco. The film is based on a memoir by journalist Michael Finkel, and it's being directed by Rupert Goold.

According to Deadline, Hill will play Finkel, "who was a writer at The New York Times Magazine in 2002 when he learned that Christian Longo was captured in Mexico after a long stint on the FBI Ten Most Wanted List for killing his family. Jonah Hill turned in a solid performance in Moneyball, and now he's got another drama on the way, but he'll be in the lead this time around. Hill is set to star opposite James Franco in the adaptation of Michael Finkel's memoir True Story. It’s the one aspect of humanity that binds the demographics; the one thing that’s on everyone’s mind, young or old. Whether you’ve come to terms with your mortality or not, Hollywood thrives off it and the simple fact that you just can’t look away.

Many films exist and across them countless characters shuffle off the mortal coil; some nobly while others pointlessly, some even to the audiences’ collective groan of derision (two words: Mace Windu). Regardless of their dramatic accomplishment, movie deaths present a director with an opportunity to invoke empathy at the most primal level – sure Hans Gruber (Alan Rickman) was an asshole throughout Die Hard but it’s hard not to acknowledge his humanity given his expression of mortal terror as he falls from the Nakatomi Plaza rooftop.

Done well, movie deaths make dramatic statements. They’ll kick-start a narrative or punctuate it with tragedy.
