Captain Harlock and the Queen of a Thousand Years

1 review

Hard to put into words.

This is a series that Harmony Gold was all too happy to have disappear. No kidding! Check their website. Nowhere on it do they admit they worked on this project. Which is really tragic, as I believe it was one of their better works. I mean, sure the series took two different animation series in Japan and sandwiched them into one with a completely different plot. But they did that with Robotech and it was wildly successful. The difference is that the three parent animations that went into Robotech didn't have nearly as fanatical and rabid fans as Captain Harlock. That, and "Queen of a Thousand Years" wasn't nearly as well written. Voice acting was top notch for 1985, though. The action and storyline, while not as good as Robotech, was definitely better than most other cartoons out at this time. If you're into a fun show, and don't mind doing a little research to find copies, this is definitely one to watch.
