Confirming their mother's passing, Victor's daughters, Raquel Victor and Margo Victor, said in a statement, “Renee is perhaps best known as the voice of ‘Abuelita’ in Disney’s 2017 blockbuster Coco. Hulu New Releases: August 2020
Kirstie Alley, Leonard Nimoy, William Shatner, and Ricardo Montalban in Star Trek II : La Colère de Khan (1982)
If you were concerned about there being a content drought in August due to the coronavirus pandemic shutting down Hollywood, you were…absolutely right in those concerns.

For its new releases in August 2020, Hulu is following Apple, Disney, and even Peacock’s lead in taking things nice and slowly. The vast majority of the notable offerings here are of the library variety. Hulu adds classic movies like Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan, Rain Man, and Top Gun on August 1. Those go along with the very much still-holds-up Casino Royale on August 31.

Hulu also has room for some interesting recent indie movies like Ordinary Love (Aug. 3) and Peanut Butter Falcon (Aug. 6). But when it comes to Hulu original content there’s not much going on. The unheralded Find Me in Paris debuts its third season on August 21. That is followed by original comedy The Binge on August 28. And that’s about it!

Greg Daniels
Amazon Prime Video New Releases: May 2020
Greg Daniels
Looking for the UK Amazon Prime new releases? Click here instead!

It’s been awhile since the world has seen a new comedy from Greg Daniels, co-creator of The Office (U.S.) and Parks and Recreation. That all changes this month with Amazon Prime’s new releases for May 2020. That’s right, leading the pack of Amazon originals on May 1 is Daniels’ Upload, a comedy about digital afterlives. That should inject a healthy dose of sci-fi “middletopia” into our lives.

Also premiering in May is the second season of Amazon Prime’s twisty drama Homecoming. This season starts Janelle Monáe and premieres on May 22. After that, the rest of Amazon’s originals this month are fairly film-centric. The Goldfinch, Seberg, and The Vast of Night are the notable original films arriving in May.

Per usual the first of the month sees the biggest injection of movie content. Though there is...

Dan Stevens, Mary Mack, Thomas Middleditch, and Sean Giambrone in Solar Opposites (2020)
Hulu New Releases: May 2020
Dan Stevens, Mary Mack, Thomas Middleditch, and Sean Giambrone in Solar Opposites (2020)
There are few surefire successes in television. It just so happens that with its new releases for May 2020, Hulu almost certainly found itself one. May 8 sees the debut of all eight episodes of Solar Opposites, the latest sci-fi animated effort from Rick and Morty co-creator Justin Roiland. This is a brand new story featuring a family of aliens crashing to Earth and learning to live amongst the rest of us weirdos. But the animation style and sci-fi themes hew so closely to Rick and Morty that there’s no way this won’t be a hit.

On the off chance Solar Opposites doesn’t set the world ablaze, Hulu has some other intriguing content lottery tickets for May. The Great premieres on May 15 and is a comedic period piece about Catherine the Great starring Elle Fanning and Nicholas Hoult. You can’t accuse Hulu of not taking big swings this month!

Jim Carrey at an event for L'incroyable Burt Wonderstone (2013)

Here’s some great news, though: There’s plenty coming to Netflix, Hulu, Disney+, and Amazon Prime in May, so put away the books and the games, and get ready to binge some excellent shows and films.

On Netflix, you can catch some notable comedy entries next month like the Jim Carrey-led Ace Ventura: Pet Detective and Fun with Dick and Jane, while action-horror fans may be delighted to hear that multiple Underworld films will be dropping on the service. The lesser-known Jarhead trilogy will be available on the 1st, and the first two pics in the Back to the Future trilogy will join the third film for streaming. Dozens more movies and shows will join these as well to ensure that Netflix reigns as...

Wild Horses Trailer: Robert Duvall Directs James Franco in Western Crime Drama
The first Wild Horses trailer for the new film from writer/director Robert Duvall has been released online. Duvall stars in the cowboy crime drama as a Texas Ranger compelled to reopen a 15-year-old missing persons case, while also contending with this relationship with his son, played by James Franco. This is Duvall’s first directorial effort since 2002’s Assassination Tango, and it doesn’t look half bad. Of course the most striking thing about it is Franco’s “Southern” accent, which is pretty great/terrible. He likely didn't have ample time to prepare, seeing as how he's also busy prepping/writing/directing/starring in 74 other movies at the same time. Watch the Wild Horses trailer below, via Yahoo! Movies. The film also stars Josh Hartnett, Angie Cepeda, and Jim Parrack and will be available in theaters and VOD on June 15th.

Exclusive Interview With Robert Duvall On Wild Horses
In Robert Duvall’s latest western, Wild Horses, he stars as an old rancher who once kicked his son off his property for being gay and now finds himself at the center of a missing person investigation. In addition to starring, Duvall directed a cast that includes James Franco and Josh Hartnett.

While Duvall was in Austin at SXSW to promote the film, we had a chance to sit down with the Oscar-winner. We talked about why this project spoke to him, working on a small budget, and using actual Texas rangers in the production. Check out the full interview below!

What was it about this movie that made you want to direct it?

Duvall: Well, not a lot in the beginning. The script we got was pretty unshootable. We took it, I took the option. I wanted to do it because I wanted to have a lady ranger in...

A Night in Old Mexico | Review
Siesta Fest: Aragon’s English Language Debut Incredibly Forced

The one discernible reason to watch Cuban director Emilio Aragon’s English language debut, A Night in Old Mexico, would be to see star Robert Duvall front and center dancing circles around the cringe worthy supporting cast. To be fair, his is the only character granted any kind of depth, as written by screenwriter William D. Wittliff, reteaming with Duvall for the first time since the memorable 1989 television miniseries, “Lonesome Dove.” It’s a project that’s reputed to be nearly 35 years in the making, but the end product can’t quite justify the means with this reunion that feels akin to Duvall’s last stint as director, 2002’s Assassination Tango (an effort that feels far superior in comparison).

About to lose the property that’s been in his family for generations, Texas rancher Red Bovie (Robert Duvall) is contemplating suicide...

The top 25 underappreciated films of 1997
Odd List Ryan Lambie Simon Brew 7 Nov 2013 - 07:02

Our journey through the half-remembered, underappreciated films of the 1990s continues. Here, we look to 1997...

Dominated by the box office behemoth that was James Cameron's Titanic, 1997 was a year of high drama and outlandish special effects. The Lost World: Jurassic Park brought with it a new batch of genetically revived dinosaurs, George Lucas dug his original Star Wars trilogy out of the cupboard and added new (controversial) computer-generated sequences, while Nicolas Cage and John Travolta did impressions of one another and fired guns in John Woo's delirious action movie, Face/Off.

It was a varied year for movies, for sure, particularly by 21st century standards; it's difficult to imagine a British feel-good comedy about amateur male strippers (The Full Monty) getting into the year's 10 highest grossing films these days. But among all those winners, there had to be some...

Duvall and Black Reteam in Trailer for Golf Drama 'Seven Days in Utopia'
Photo: Utopia Pictures Obviously timed to coincide with The Masters this weekend, Utopia Pictures has unveiled the trailer for the upcoming golf drama Seven Days in Utopia, which reteams Get Low actors Robert Duvall and Lucas Black along with a fleet of other recognizable names including recent Oscar winner Melissa Leo (The Fighter), Brian Geraghty (The Hurt Locker), Deborah Anne Woll ("True Blood") and Kathy Baker who starred in the Duvall-directed 2003 feature Assassination Tango.

To be entirely honest, I hadn't heard of this film before now, but the names attached captured my interest. The film is based on David Cook's best-selling novel "Golf's Sacred Journey: Seven Days at the Links of Utopia" and centers on Luke Chisolm (Black), a talented young golfer set on making the pro tour. When his first big shot turns out to be a very public disaster, Luke escapes the pressures of the game and...

Career Highs and a 'Low'
Robert Duvall's career spans a series of classic characters and performances in several of cinema's all-time greatest films. So, after you've played consigliere to the Godfather, worked with Sidney Lumet and Paddy Chayefsky, and directed yourself to an Oscar nomination, what could possibly get you excited? "Anytime I hear about a guy that wants to go to his own funeral, I think that's pretty unique," Duvall says about his latest film, "Get Low," adding, "And you know they're not gonna do a sequel or a remake in 10 years." In the film, Duvall plays troubled hermit Felix Bush, who, after 40 years of living alone, throws a funeral party for himself—while still alive. Supported by an all-star cast—including Sissy Spacek, Bill Murray, and Lucas Black—Duvall shines in the lead role and secures a spot for Bush on the actor's list of unforgettable characters. Although Bush has spent his last 40 years shunning society,...
