The one that turned the Malayalam movie industry upside down

One of the best movies of MohanLal.The racy script and hard hitting dialogue went a long way in making the movie a Blockbuster.Highly Successful at the box office, this was Mohanlal's early breakthrough role and considered to be his all time favorite by his fans. The film became such a huge hit that Mohanlal turned into a superstar overnight. The dialogue in the film is such a hit that still people people repeat it time after time after time."My Phone No is 2255", this dialogue is the most used by mimicry artist all over Kerala still today.. That was the impact of this film which produced Malayalam film industry a superstar of never seen stature.

    Birth Of A Star. ♦ Grade C-

Considered a cult classic, Thampi Kannanthanam's most successful film, this crime drama, is just above average in retrospective.

Vincent Gomas (Mohanlal) is a highly influential underworld don who gets attracted to Nancy (Ambika), a small-time advocate. When she loses her job as a collateral damage due to Gomas' fault, he tries to compensate her financially. But, Nancy, for the woman with self- respect that she is, rejects his money and expresses her scorn for him and his illegal activities. Gomas adores her temperament without realizing that his arch-nemesis, Krishnadas (Ratheesh), the state home minister, is somehow related to her. The story then follows Gomas' rivalry with the minister as the duo use their own methods to finish each other.

The film is an engaging watch, thanks to its gritty story-line and dialogues which give you that expected adrenaline rush. Mohanlal is charming as the don in his vintage attire dressed to kill. He follows his director's directions effortlessly, and the result is pure entertainment. However, the editing is surprisingly sub-standard. Unlike other popular films of the era, the makers have paid little to no attention to the details or the continuity, which hugely affects the experience. There are lots of sequences which end abruptly or in a static image of the final scene of a certain sequence, with the audio booming in the background. We have to understand that modern filmmaking technology only arrived in the late 90s, but this could have been polished up a little bit more so as to carve out an evergreen affair.

Of course, this one can be watched multiple times just to relish those dialogues, now popular due to their repeated use in pop culture, but a real cinema enthusiast will frown at the overall execution. With some great performances and a tragic climax, Rajavinte Makan is one of those films which has received a cult following, but are just known because of what it led to: birth of a star we now know as "the complete actor".

BOTTOM LINE: Thampi Kannanthanam's "Rajavinte Makan" is a seemingly hot affair that must be watched by a Malayal cinema enthusiast at least once, for the fear of missing out on one of Mohanlal's legendary performances. Watch it on YouTube.

Can be watched with a typical Indian family? YES

There are a lot of memory dialogues

The political sensor presented by the son of the son was a passion for the audience as a social being The dilemmas in politics and the flow of the film with the open-shafts of the film that the tailor and the ladies are trying to get there.

Those dialogues that are never forgotten

Rajmohan asked me once, that's the father of an ankle. I said I was a king. A king with a crown, a scepter, and a throne. When he saw me, he would have mocked and called me. Prince. The king, the son of the king. Yes, I am a Prince. Underworld Prince. Prince of the underworld.

    My phone number is 2255.

Vincent Gomes' deceased people are now alive

We have hands on our hands ........ If we stay here we will lose it ...... hand for hand, teeth for the tooth .... yes i'm going to kill .. I'm going to kill again

Everything you do when you feel guilty in your heart is automatic

The best action entertainer of all time in Malayalam. Mohanlal is the son of Thampi Kannanthanam Rajavinte makan and the son of superstar Mohanlal. The dialogues from the movie still look to Malayalee. Underworld hero Vincent Gomens dies in the climax of the opponents. The audience believes that Vincent Gomes will return at least once.

    Super Movie

What a fascinating action movie that made Lalettan a superstar. Ratheesh is the villain in my POV because he cheated Lalettan for his own personal gains. There's no way Ratheesh can be the film hero, at least not in my POV because he not only cheated Lalettan, he also cheated Nancy who was his wife. I love the actions scenes and my favorite is the scene where Lalettan fights the thugs that kidnapped Rajumon who is Ambika's son. It's sad to see Lalettan get shot at the end of the movie which makes the sad ending but I still like the movie. I would've wanted to see Lalettan and Ratheesh fight each other and I'd want Lalettan to win the fight. Ratheesh is the reason Lalettan became violent and vengeful. Lalettan helped him make a successful political career and Ratheesh just betrayed him. The dialouge "My 📞 number is 2255" is still iconic today and is also referenced in Aaraattu. I gotta say this is one of the best Lalettan mass movies of the 1980s. His intro in the movie is fire and dope. Lalettan is a tough guy in this 🎥 so I wouldn't mess with him if I were u. It depends on your POV to determine who the hero and villain is. In my POV, Ratheesh is the villain. Lalettan is the anti hero protagonist but he's a cool anti hero and was heroic when he saved Rajumon.
