Joy Taylor Axed From Fox Sports Months After Lawsuit & Controversy
Image
Fox Sports is making some major programming changes, and Joy Taylor’s show Speak has been affected. The talk show, which Taylor hosts alongside Keyshawn Johnson and Paul Pierce, has been canceled, according to The Athletic. Additionally, Breakfast Ball and The Facility have also gotten the axe. All three shows will reportedly be replaced with new programs, which have yet to be announced. Taylor has been with the network since 2016. News of Taylor’s dismissal comes six months after she was at the center of controversy following a lawsuit filed by former Fox Sports hairstylist Noushin Faraji. Faraji accused Fox Sports’ executive vice president Charlie Dixon and host Skip Bayless of sexual battery and misconduct. In her lawsuit, she claimed that Taylor slept with Dixon and Emmanuel Acho to get jobs on shows, including Speak and Undisputed. Faraji alleged that Taylor told her she would claim Dixon “forced himself on...

'John Wick' Stars Scott Adkins & Marko Zaror Talk Possible Return to the Hit Action Franchise
Image
It goes without saying that Keanu Reeves pretty much steals the show in every John Wick film (and possibly even every film?) he graces. But what about the countless big names that swoop in with each installment? It's too many to count, but each makes their presence known, especially in the critically acclaimed John Wick: Chapter 4. At a whopping 2 hours and 49 minutes, watch out for standout supporting turns by martial artists Marko Zaror and Scott Adkins — the latter undergoing an outrageous transformation to make the extremely fit performer look extremely overweight as "Killa." John Wick: Chapter 4 wasn't the first time that Adkins and Zaror worked together — or the last. They co-starred in past cult classics like the Undisputed films, and their latest movie Diablois out now.

MovieWeb recently caught up with the action stars in separate interviews while they were promoting the fistfight-heavy Diablo, and they both weighed...

Scott Adkins Reveals He Has "Kernel of an Idea" for Another 'Undisputed' Sequel
Image
Dating back to 2007, the Undisputed films have become cult classics to action junkies — and who's to say the sports franchise is said and done after four installments? Underrated action star and John Wick actor Scott Adkins has become the face of the gritty cinematic universe, despite the fact that he didn't even appear until Undisputed II, and the famed action star might just have more in the tank for his crazed Yuri Boyka persona. It doesn't take a film professor to see how there could be endless stories to dream up in this dark world of underground fighters competing in illegal competitions, and MovieWeb recently caught up with Adkins to learn more about just that.

The longtime performer and expert martial artist was recently promoting his latest action movie, Diablo, which is out now, and confirmed to MovieWeb that there could be more story to tell specifically about his standout character from Undisputed.

Action Star Marko Zaror Reveals The Terminator Inspired His 'Diablo' Villain
Image
Who is the greatest action movie star working today? Sure, there are some go-to names that might jump off your tongue, but other impressive fist-wielders don't always get the same spotlight. Lionsgate's latest action movie Diablo, out now, features two underrated icons who have starred in hit franchises like John Wick and Undisputed. Scott Adkins and Marko Zaror seem to pair like spaghetti and meatballs on the big screen. In Diablo, Adkins leads the charge as its protagonist, while Zaror steals his scenes as the ultimate villain — who happens to be missing a hand (not that it holds him back in any way). MovieWeb recently spoke with Zaror while he was promoting the new action film, and the celebrated martial artist opened up about fleshing out his terrifying "bad guy" alongside Diablo director Ernesto Díaz Espinoza.

"I remember seeing the movie I Saw the Devil. [Ernesto] showed to me,...

Diablo: Scott Adkins and Marko Zaror on their new action flick
Ving Rhames and Wesley Snipes in Un seul deviendra invincible (2002)
If they’ve never seen it, action fans would be well-advised to check out the Undisputed series of Dtv action films. Undisputed, for those who don’t know, was a theatrical boxing film directed by Walter Hill that tanked in theaters, but became a hit in the home video market. As such, it got a sequel, but it had nothing to do with the original, other than the fact that it centred around prison fighting, with the sequels embracing martial arts as opposed to the classic boxing of the original. Significantly, they helped propel Scott Adkins, who played the villainous Boyka in the second, to the top-tiers of the dtv action market, with him creating such a sensation that Boyka became the hero in the third and fourth films (the whole series ranked highly in our list of Best American Martial Arts Films).

Of course, the third film climaxed in...

The 12 Best Wesley Snipes Movies, Ranked
Image
Wesley Snipes made his big screen debut in the mid 1980s with the Goldie Hawn comedy "Wildcats," and it wasn't long before supporting roles became leads. He reached his peak in the '90s with a string of well-received films ranging from action movies and comedies to dramas and sci-fi hits. The new millennium brought a few more box-office successes, but for one reason or another, Snipes began filling his filmography with somewhat forgettable direct-to-video fare with titles like "The Marksman," "The Contractor," and "The Detonator." And then the U.S. government came calling...

Snipes was charged, convicted, and sentenced in 2008 for tax evasion, and after serving over two years in prison, he returned to filmmaking roughly where he left off -- forgettable genre movies with titles like "The Recall" and "Armed Response." He also got assists, though, from old friends like Sylvester Stallone, Spike Lee, Eddie Murphy, and Ryan Reynolds...

‘WWE 2K25’ Review: The Reigning, Defending, but Disputed Wrestling Game Champion
Image
Even though real-life villain Vince McMahon was forced out of the WWE, and under disreputable circumstances, in January of 2024, in terms of the on-screen story, most will tell you the end of the McMahon era creatively was April 7, 2024. That was the day that Roman Reigns’s legendarily tyrannical run as Undisputed Champion came to a righteous end at Wrestlemania 40, at the hands of “The American Nightmare” Cody Rhodes.

It’s now been a year since the WWE has been fully under Paul “Triple H” Levesque’s stewardship, and that time has been marked by dizzying highs, terrifying lows, creamy middles, and more. And once again, 2K’s annual WWE-branded sports release is meant to encapsulate the broad spectrum of professional wrestling promotion at the moment of the game’s development cycle, which appears to target somewhere around fall of 2024.

With WWE 2K25, the spotlight is again on Roman. To the game’s credit,...

Cody Rhodes refused to sell his soul to The Rock and in turn got smacked by a heel turned John Cena (a sentence no one ever saw coming). Rhodes finally finished his story as the Undisputed WWE Champion after his win against Roman Reigns in last year’s WrestleMania Xl. It was his first world championship win in his career.

Rhodes and Dwayne Johnson’s feud started way back when the former promised that he would take two of the most prestigious titles bestowed on The Rock. Rhodes claimed thirteen years ago that he would be synonymous with the WWE Championship and be called the People’s Champion instead of The Rock.

Ftr used tandem offense to knock Kyle out of the ring. Cash connected with a sliding baseball dropkick on Roddy. Roddy blocked a Ddt and then dropped Cash across the top of the barricade. John Cena Turns Heel, Aligns With The Rock in WWE Elimination Chamber Shocker
Image
For over two decades, John Cena was the ultimate hero of WWE, a figure fans could count on to “never give up.” But at Elimination Chamber 2025, that all changed. In one of the most shocking moments in modern WWE history, Cena turned heel, aligning himself with The Rock and, for some reason, rapper Travis Scott to brutally attack Cody Rhodes. The moment unfolded after Rhodes, the Undisputed WWE Champion, refused The Rock’s demand to “hand over his soul.” Cena then struck, attacking Rhodes before helping The Rock and Scott leave him bloodied in the ring to close the show.

R.I.P. Peter Jason, prolific character actor and John Carpenter regular, has passed away at 80
Image
Over the course of a career that stretched back to 1967, Peter Jason racked up more than 270 screen acting credits, turning in performances that inspired legendary filmmaker John Carpenter to name him “one of the great character actors in cinema” – and to cast him in seven different projects: Prince of Darkness, They Live, Body Bags, In the Mouth of Madness, Village of the Damned, Escape from L.A., and Ghosts of Mars. Sadly, Carpenter has now had to take to social media to break the news to his fans and followers that Jason has passed away at the age of 80. Carpenter wrote, “His first movie was Howard Hawks’ Rio Lobo. He was a dear friend and I’ll miss him terribly.“

It is true that the 1970 film Rio Lobo was Jason’s first theatrical feature, but he already had three years of TV acting to his name at that point, with credits...

Peter Jason, the extremely busy character actor who appeared in nine features for Walter Hill and seven for John Carpenter and portrayed the card dealer-turned-reverend Con Stapleton on HBO’s Deadwood, has died. He was 80.

Jason died Thursday in his West Hollywood home after a long battle with cancer, a family representative told The Hollywood Reporter.

Jason amassed more than 275 acting credits on IMDb alone during his seven-decade onscreen career that began in the mid-1960s with a comedy sketch on CBS’ The Red Skelton Show, and he made his big-screen debut in Howard Hawks’ final film, Rio Lobo (1970), where his character died in the arms of John Wayne.

The Hollywood native also was an actor and production associate for Orson Welles on The Other Side of the Wind, which came out in 2018 after 48 years in development.

'John Wick's Scott Adkins Cast in New Action Western 'Day of Reckoning'
Image
Scott Adkins, whose action resume includes John Wick: Chapter 4, Undisputed, The Killer's Game, and many, many more, has landed his next project, and it appears to be a relentlessly brutal western. For such a popular action star, we're surprised Adkins hasn't lent his martial arts skills to the world of six shooting cowboys yet, but Day of Reckoning sounds like the perfect first time.

Per Deadline, Scott Adkins, along with country music star, Trace Adkins (no relation), have joined the cast of Day of Reckoning, which is being produced by Esx Entertainment. The movie is being directed by Shaun Silva (Ride), based on a script penned by Travis J. Opgenorth (Supernatural). Day of Reckoning already features a packed cast that includes Billy Zane, Zack Roerig, and Cara Jade Myers. No release date or window has been revealed for Day of Reckoning. You can check out the synopsis for the movie,...

UFC and WWE Games Should Learn From This 1 Cool Feature in Undisputed Makes Your Knockout Victories More Satisfying Than Ever
Image
The video game industry is constantly evolving, and one genre that doesn’t see many new features is the sports genre. While games like UFC 5 and WWE 2K24 focus on delivering flashy visuals and the latest athletes, they miss the small wins sometimes. One game that’s tried something new and cool is Undisputed, a boxing game by Steel City Interactive.

The game added an instant replay system that lets you replay your knockout punches from multiple angles. It might seem little but the feature brings an unmatched sense of immersion and triumph. UFC and WWE games could benefit from it too.

Undisputed‘s Instant Replay System is Pretty Cool

Undisputed’s instant replay system was introduced as part of a beta test in the Big Daddy Update in July 2023. The system lets players pause and switch between different camera angles in the replay to...

Jake Paul Joins ‘Undisputed’ Boxing Video Game, While Mike Tyson Does Not
Image
Jake Paul will soon be a playable character in Undisputed, the boxing video game.

The game, released in October from Steel City Interactive and available for Xbox, PS5 and PC, features the likeness of over 70 real-world fighters, both male and female, as well as 60 different punches and a secondary roster of trainers, cutmen and managers.

Offered as part of a downloadable content package available Dec. 12, the former YouTuber and Hollywood Reporter cover star, 27, will be available to spar in a virtual ring in three different outfits.

Paul and Mike Tyson’s megahyped Nov. 15 match on Netflix drew 108 million viewers worldwide, equivalent to one in five subscriber households. The bout crashed Netflix servers, leading to pending lawsuits from angry customers. Paul beat Tyson, 58, via unanimous decision after all three judges ruled in his favor with scores of 80-72, 79-73 and 79-73.

“This isn’t just about being in a video game...

Undisputed November Update Was A Great Step In The Right Direction, But There's Still One Thing That Bugs Me
Image
I've got to admit, when I loaded the latest iteration of Undisputed, the console and PC boxing game, I was scared that this stop-gap before the December update could potentially make the game worse. At first, I questioned the move's timing. At best, it was an attempt to help satisfy fans who were left somewhat underwhelmed by the gameplay, and at worst, it was an effort to get more buzz for the game to capitalize on the popularity of the Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson fight card on Netflix.

That said, I was actually pleasantly surprised as the latest 1.1.3 Undisputed Patch update actually did a pretty decent job at returning the game back to its fun state well, at least partially. Power punches now cost a lot more stamina, and winging power right hooks have become a lot less effective than they were previously. That said, not everything is perfect,...

John Wicks Scott Adkins Wants To Bring Back Boyka for Undisputed 5
Image
One of the most tragically unsung heroes in action movies, Scott Adkins, has declared that he would love to return to one of his most popular martial arts franchises. Known for roles in the likes of Ninja, Universal Soldier: Day of Reckoning, Ip Man 4, The Expendables 2, and John Wick: Chapter 4, the character that put Adkins on the map of many an action movie fan is that of the most complete fighter in the world, Yuri Boyka. And Adkins wants to return to the ring for more.

Answering fans questions on X/Twitter recently, Adkins responded to the idea of returning as Boyka in an Undisputed 5. Introduced back in 2006s Undisputed II: Last Man Standing, Yuri Boyka began life as the villain, going up against Michael Jai Whites more heroic ex-boxer as the pair are forced to fight while serving time in a Russian prison. Since then, Adkins Boyka has become the lead,...

Undisputed Couldn’t Fix EA’s Biggest Issue That Makes Career Mode Extremely Unrewarding to Play and It’s Quite Annoying
Image
The thrill of progressing through a career mode in sports video games often hinges on the excitement of facing various opponents. However, Undisputed has fallen into a trap that has plagued many sports games: a lack of diversity in matchups. Players are still investing time and effort in honing their skills, building their character, and striving to reach the top of their sport.

Players are frustrated with the career mode in the game. | Image Credit: Steel City Interactive

Unfortunately, developing their characters is not immersive enough, as players will be facing the same opponents after achieving a certain ranking. This leads to a monotonous experience that ruins the excitement and immersion expected from a career mode. Players are voicing their concerns for a change, as they want to enjoy the thrill of facing new enemies and building rivalries.

Undisputed‘s Career Mode Plagued by the Repetition Trap

Undisputed Is Suffering From A Major Game-Breaking Problem & I'm Not Convinced It'll Be Fixed
Image
It's been a while since I could say that a game legitimately got much worse once it exited beta on PC for its full launch for consoles, but the Undisputed 1.0 launch has been worse than underwhelming for me; it's become downright unplayable. While I've enjoyed the updates to the career mode, the online multiplayer portion of the title something that I used to enjoy, has devolved into something that doesn't resemble the Sweet Science anymore.

Although it appears that the developers of the game, Steel City Interactive, are aware of the serious game-breaking issues, it doesn't look like there's a proper sense of urgency in an industry lacking any real boxing game competition. As it stands, I think I'll stop playing what was supposed to be a Fight Night rival after investing 162 hours into the game, at least until things are fixed.
