Mr. Bean, Irma Gobb, Mr. Bean's teddy bear, the mysterious driver of the blue car, and the traffic warden are the only characters from the original live-action series to be seen in Mr. Bean: The Animated Series.
Mr. Bean's signature is the same as the one used in the original '90s merchandising for the live-action series and movie.
For some reason, Mr. Bean didn't have a landlady that he was dependent on to have his flat in the original live action series, unlike he does in this animated series.
The opening credits of the animated series subtly reference the opening credits of the live action series. In the live action opening, a beam of light shines down and Bean falls from the sky. In the animated series opening, Bean shines a torch downwards and drops Teddy down into its centre.
