    Irulan whom was the empress and wife to Emperor Paul Atriedes was forbid to have children with Paul due to Paul's love for Chani. A treacherous Irulan wanted to become the mother of Paul's children and schemed by drugging Chani. Although Irulan drugged Chani, Chani gave birth to Paul's children Leto and Ghanima and shortly after, Chani succumbed to drug poisoning and died from the drugs Irulan gave her.



    Gholas are similar to clones, but produced differently. They are artificially created humans whom are replicated from a dead individual from a cell from the original being. Duncan Idaho (A Ghloa) was replicated as a Ghola by the Bene Tleilax as a gift to Paul Atreides and had been created as an assassin to kill Paul and has no memories of his former life. Duncan Idaho had been killed by the Emperor's Sardaukar.
