Bret Hart and Davey Boy Smith's match in the main event almost never happened. Smith reported to the show having used cocaine extensively in the previous few days and there was strong consideration given to not having him work. Furthermore, he forgot all the spots in the carefully-planned match, leaving the Hitman to call them all on the fly. Hart has said in later years that carrying his brother-in-law to a classic match on a massive stage in Davey Boy's home country was one of his proudest achievements as a wrestler.
