My favorite Lalettan 1980s Classic. Lalettan as Balagopalan is a kind hearted, sweet, educated, and hard working young gentleman. I gotta say Balagopalan is one of my favorite character character names for Lalettan. I first saw this 🎥 when I was very little and instantly loved it. Lalettan won his first Kerala State Film Award as Best Actor for his performance in this 🎥 which was also his first Best Actor Award in his filmography. He was the youngest recipient of his time to win Kerala State Film Award for Best Actor at age 26. Lalettan held that record for two decades until it was broken in 2006 by actor Prithviraj Sukumaran winning his first Kerala State Film Award for Best Actor at age 24. Despite that, Lalettan will always be the youngest actor of his time to win as he was the first to set that record. My favorite scene from an image standpoint is where Lalettan as Balagopalan wears a manila button down shirt. This 🎥 may have been released before he moved up to stardom but his Best Actor award for this 🎥 is above and beyond satisfactory. I do wish Lalettan can stay young forever, especially in his 20s and 30s but sadly nobody lives forever let alone stay young forever. But I will still love Lalettan's 1980s and 90s classics no matter what. Even though Balagopalan had financial struggles, he was still capable of dressing nicely with a button down shirt and dress pants. Even though Lalettan as Balagopalan is kind to almost everyone, sadly not everyone is kind to him as Balan K Nair and Sukumari don't approve of his relationship with Shobana as Anitha. Lalettan as Balagopalan is sometimes addressed as Balan and Balettan which are his nicknames. I'm glad this 🎥 has a happy ending as Balagopalan and Anitha happily reunite.
I recently watched about 25 of mohanlal's most famous and well renowned movies, starting from drishyam and ending with this film where the man won his first state award. This movie is very simple too simple sometimes even, that it may be hard to see why lalettan won an award for this film. But the film is all on his performance as the titular character and man does he blend in with his role of a regular family man perfectly. Like I dont think anyone else could play the role. And its hard to believe shobhana was only 16 when she acted in this film where she delivers such a matured performance. The comedy is also light and funny, with the best scene being where pappu talks about driving in thamarassery choram(very similar to another scene in vellanakulude naadu). This film is just sweet simple and while nor perfect with some not so great acting, especially from shobhanas dad, has a charm and is worth watching in 2024. And this was also a beautiful end to this marathon. Now gonna start a mamookka one with vadakkan veeragatha.
Symbol story, Truly natural and realistic Acting & scenarios. lovely ending without the unnecessary drama as usual in other movies.
