David A. Goodman
Writers Guild of America West President David Goodman Running Unopposed for Second Term
David A. Goodman
David A. Goodman is running unopposed for a second two-year term as president of the Writers Guild of America West.

Goodman, who has become the public voice of the guild during its bitter standoff with Hollywood agents, also ran unopposed in 2017 when he succeeded Howard Rodman in the post.

The WGA West announced Friday that its negotiating committee had sought a second unidentified candidate for the presidency but that person opted not to run. Goodman could still face opposition if another candidate opts to run by petition, which would require submission of 25 member signatures by July 23.

Goodman served as executive producer of Seth MacFarlane’s “Family Guy” between 2005 and 2012. He broke into the business in 1986 as a story editor on “The Golden Girls” and has writing and producing credits on “Enterprise,” “American Dad,” “Allen Gregory,” “Futurama,” “Babes,” and “Stark Raving Mad.”

The WGA standoff with agents appears to have no end in sight.

Spidey Shows Off His Dance Moves in Weird Spider-man: Homecoming Promo; Plus a Score Preview and TV Spot
We've got a few new entertaining Spider-Man: Homecoming videos for you to check out today! The first is a weird cross-promotional promo that features Spider-Man showing off his dance moves. He then joins a hipster who's dancing alone in his apartment for some reason. It's an amusingly strange commercial for an Italian internet and cable company called Tim,

We also have a preview of the musical score for you to listen to. The movie was scored by composer Michael Giacchino and this gives us a taste of what we're in for. It's a suite that includes a collection of some of the orchestral themes we’ll hear in the movie. I included a full tracklist for the soundtrack below the videos. Unfortunately, there's nothing really iconic being displayed. One thing that I wish were better about the Marvel movies are the musical scores. Everything they do in that aspect just feels generic.

‘Camera Obscura’, Anticipating Mwg’s Paranormal Thriller
To create the entertainment of the future, writer-director Drew Daywalt reaches back into the past to fuel his imagination. The creator of Camera Obscura, the upcoming supernatural thriller web series from Mwg Entertainment, draws much of his inspiration from the short form storytelling of the late 19th and early 20th centuries, focusing on the horror of anticipation. Camera Obscura shares the sense of dread prevalent in such literary classics as Edgar Allan Poe's "The Raven," and the works of H.P. Lovecraft. The series follows Clara, an orphan brought up by her alcoholic, absent grandfather. After he dies, she finds a camera that belonged to him, and discovers that it can capture demons. She also discovers that her grandfather's work was not done, and it falls on her shoulders to complete his task. It's a nice little family story with a whole lotta' scary going on. TBS has recruited Lou Diamond Phillips, Kristy Swanson and rapper-actor Coolio to star in the upcoming original thriller Red Water. The film, from Sony Pictures TV, centers on a bull shark who wreaks havoc in a Louisiana river. Phillips and Swanson play a divorced couple searching the river for natural gas whose boat is hijacked by a pair of criminals (Coolio, Jaimz Woolvett) on a quest for stolen money dropped in the river. Recovery of the cash is complicated by relentless shark attacks. Charlie Carner is directing the telefilm from a script by Christopher Mack and J.D. Feigelson. Michael Larkin (ABC's Murder in the Heartland) is executive producing the movie, scheduled to premiere Aug. 10, with Mitch Engel (TNT's George Wallace) producing. On the big screen, Phillips next appears in Stark Raving Mad and the Ron Shelton-directed Two Cops.
