An entertaining series, soap opera style.

Proctor runs Albery, a hugely successful glazing firm, a driven professional, who doesn't know the word 'no,' a man who has everything. He shocks everyone when he announces that he's about to retire, his team ponder who will replace him, Proctor turns to his nephew Duggan, an inexperienced youth, who's taken a shine to his fiancée Carol.

One of those shows that I had recorded onto a VHS, but never got around to watching, 23 years is a long time to wait.

I think it's fair to say it's very much of its time, it's a very slick and glossy looking series, a wonderful cast and a story that does take you back a few decades.

Perhaps a little too much here and there, it's full of clichés and over the top twists, but it is entertaining, it did keep my attention.

Hard to define, a melodrama with comedy hints, sometimes it feels like a soap opera, but there are some shocks, mainly in the final two episodes.

A cracking cast, notable for being one of John Thaw's final roles, Sarah Lancashire and Joe McFadden are both really good in their roles.

I think I can understand why it's never had a commercial release in The UK, I'm thankful to Talking Pictures, once again!

6/10.

Enjoyable...an open book about ethics and revenge

I enjoyed this series immensely. I have tried all day to purchase this series as a motivator for a sales kick-off. Some of the material about business is priceless. Somebody tell me how I can purchase the series...it is not available on Amazon.com.

Poor

This was very disappointing.

To my mind the characters were not at all believable and neither were the relationships.

The die was cast with the very first two words; a tongue in cheek homage to a past role by John Thaw, but there the similarity ended. I thought he was very poor in this. This is not the first time I felt this way about dramas he has featured in outside of his major roles. Quite wooden in fact.

Sarah Lancashire just does not convince in a romantic role and although she plays a variety of different screen characters I thin k she is very one dimensional.

I could see where this was heading and had no real interest in the story or the characters so I abandoned it after one episode.
