          Viglante 8: The Movie?

I've loved Vigilante 8 ever since I first played it at age 8 back when it first came out. In my opinion it was just as good if not better than Twisted Metal. At least it had somewhat of a "realer" story behind the characters in the game.

I think if done RIGHT this could make a great movie. Way better than other game to movies done like Silent Hill or Doom. All that needs to be done really is have the game's story established a little more and it'd be great. I'm not gonna get into the cast and such but if produced well and made with a solid budget, it could be epic.

Okay, okay..I can't resist. My cast consist for the following . NOTE: I wrote this cast a few years ago, and some of the actors are to old by now to play the characters they would represent in the movie.

          Vigilantes

Chassey Blue - Jessica Biel Slick Clyde - Cillian Murphy Sheila - Michelle Rodriguez John Torque - Samuel L. Jackson Dave - Johnny Depp Convoy - Sam Elliott

          Coyotes

Loki - Wesley Snipes Houston 3 - Zoe Saldena Boogie - William Lee Scott Beezwax - Phillip Seymour Hoffman Molo - Mark Addy Sid Burn - Ryan Reynolds

          Groovy, but not perfect

It's hard to believe this game is nostalgia already. At the height of the Sony Playstation's reign as the video game champ, it was churning out one memorable hit after another. One craze was the vehicular-combat genre, a genre sort of like a racing game combined with a fighting game, headlined by the "Twisted Metal" series, and one of its most memorable gems was "Vigilante 8," a vehicular-combat game set during the 1970s. It has a forgettable plot, about warring gangs vying for control of a top-secret military base in the American Southwest, and you can play as one member of either gang. What keeps "Vigilante 8" above water was the realistic destruction you could create in the fully interactive environments, the really cool cars, and the groovy '70s-style music that definitely made the game a time piece. Certainly a classic at Playstation 1's height, but the question remains about whether or not it will still have groove on its 10-year anniversary.

The infamous commercial of the Nintendo 64 version consists of a school bus dropping off a bus load of kids at a school then screeching off. It then presents shots from the game and later returns to the school, showing the bus on the back of a flat bed truck, riddled, burned and full of holes. Then it pans to the face of a girl who exclaims.."HOLY *BLEEP*" (There was also another version where the bleep was replaced by a horn honking).

This was later banned after the Columbine Massacre and was thought to have conveyed a message of school violence.
