Vigilante 8: Second Offense

1 review

Still gots groove

This is definitely better than the first "Vigilante 8" game. There are more characters, bigger levels, and the best part about it: upgradable vehicles!

I won't even go into the story because it's too confusing to understand and doesn't really matter anyway.

Now the good things about "Vigilante 8: Second Offense". First off the game itself. Second Offense is such a vast improvement over the original in many ways not just in control, but in terms of gameplay as well. Second the cars which I are the best thing about this game. The reason I like them so much is because they can be upgraded into something more "modernized". Third, the levels. They are HUGE! The levels like the game, have been vastly improved since the original. They are bigger and there is a lot more stuff to blow up. Also a big improvement on the levels is that you are no longer confined to just the American southwest. Now the mayhem goes nationwide. Another big improvement on some of the new levels is that there are some neat little mini-missions to do. An example would be on the Utah level where you can ski down the slope and get a cache of weapons as a reward. Fourth, the environments. The environments seem to have been improved the most. Now you are almost fully able to interact with them. This is probably the greatest improvement in the game. Water, driving on snow, and trying to get things in hard-to-reach places are no longer a problem with the new "attachments" which include skis & treads, water propellers, and hover devices. These are a really big help in this game since the attachments make things that would have been impossible in the first game as simple as cake. It's kind of stupid that some game critics have panned this as "ridiculous".

I only got one negative comment and it's the music. It sucks big time. I HATE seventies music. Not all of it is bad, but the majority of it is. That is why I always listen to my own CDs whenever I play this game.

Anyways, as I stated before, "Vigilante 8: Second Offense" is a really big improvement over the first game that it should have gotten more attention from critics as well as the gaming public.

9/10
