Austin Nichols has spoken about a moment from early in his acting career that he now views with discomfort. While appearing on the Drama Queens podcast, Nichols described his experience filming a kiss scene with then-15-year-old Mary-Kate Olsen in the 2001 teen movie Holiday in the Sun, saying the situation felt inappropriate at the time.

“I was definitely nervous because Mary-Kate was 15, and I was, I think, 18 or 19, or maybe even 20,” Nichols said. “I don’t remember, but I was too old, and it felt weird, and it felt wrong.”

He explained that although the characters appeared age-compatible on screen, he remained aware of the age difference while filming. “I looked very young, so watching the movie, I don’t think you notice. Nearly 25 years later, one of the Olsen Twins‘ leading men is reflecting on the problematic nature of their onscreen romance.

Austin Nichols, who starred alongside the twins in 2001’s Holiday in the Sun, recalled that his kiss scene with Mary-Kate Olsen “felt wrong,” acknowledging that she and Ashley were “children” at the time.

Neil Peart‘s brother, Danny Peart, has died from the same cancer that took the life of the Rush drummer.

Danny also suffered from glioblastoma, a rare and aggressive type of brain cancer, and passed away on Thursday (March 13th) — just over five years since Neil’s passing in January 2020.

Neil and Danny’s sister Nancy Peart Burkholder shared the sad news in a post on the Peart Family Events Facebook group, which was then reposted to the Neil Peart Drums and Drumming Facebook group:

“On this dreary Sunday it is with great sadness that we share that this past Thursday evening we lost our third Peart man and 2nd brother, Danny, after his year and a half battle with glioblastoma (brain cancer). John Stamos revealed on the “Good Guys” podcast (via Insider) that he had Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen booted from “Full House” when they were 11 months old as their persistent crying on set drove him crazy. The firing only lasted a couple of days, as the replacement babies for the Olsen twins proved even worse to be around. Stamos, who played Jesse Katsopolis on all eight seasons of “Full House,” was filming a scene where his character and Dave Coulier’s Joey change Michelle Tanner’s diaper. The Olsen twins switched off playing Michelle during the show’s run.

“We’re doing the scene. Joey and I were changing the baby, right? And Danny [Bob Saget] is gone and said, ‘Take care of the kids.’ ‘Yeah, we got it. We got it,'” Stamos said. “So, we’re carrying the baby downstairs and we take her in the kitchen and we hose her down.

One of the biggest all-star lineups ever will celebrate the 2021 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees this weekend. The ceremony filmed October 30 in Cleveland, Ohio, and now airs this Saturday, November 20, on HBO and HBO Max.

The event clocking in at 3 hour and16 minutes honors Foo Fighters, The Go-Go’s, Jay-Z, Carole King, Todd Rundgren and Tina Turner in the performer category. Kraftwerk, Charley Patton and Gil Scott-Heron were chosen for early influence induction. LL Cool J, Billy Preston and Randy Rhoads were honored in the musical excellence category. Clarence Avant received the Ahmet Ertegun Award.

King had been previously inducted as a songwriter. Turner is now a solo artist inductee after going in with Ike Turner the first time around.

Although they’ve never really been seriously considered by official voters, The Go-Go’s are your favorites for 2021 induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. They received 20% of the vote in our recent poll asking which snubbed band most deserves to be chosen to be inducted. Melissa Etheridge was tops in our separate poll about overlooked female artists. The all-female group from the 1980s originally was started by Belinda Carlisle, Jane Wiedlin, Elissa Bello and Margot Olavarria. Other members who would most likely receive induction would be Charlotte Caffey, Gina Schock, Kathy Valentine and Paula Jean Brown. They beat out Duran Duran with 13% and The B-52’s with 11%.

Alison Ellwood’s “The Go-Go’s,” a documentary about that pioneering all-female band that premieres on July 31 on Showtime, is one of my favorite nonfiction films of 2020. But as I said when I interviewed Ellwood and the band at the Sundance Film Festival in January, I can’t even pretend to be an objective reporter when it comes to this movie, because I’ve known the Go-Go’s since before their first album came out in 1981, and I wrote about them often and with affection over the years.

As someone who was around the band during their first years of existence and sporadically since then, I found that Ellwood told the story with sympathy but also honesty. The Go-Go’s were always tougher than their frothy, happy image suggested, and there was always infighting and excesses of various kinds — and the film shows all the dimensions of the story,...

Even if you’ve seen the footage before, in L.A. punk docs and Vh-1 specials, it’s still thrilling to watch: Five women on stage, their outfits resembling a day-glo mix of thrift-store chic and a temper tantrum’s aftermath, two different kinds of eyeshadow and smeared streaks of rouge fighting for dominance, bashing out crude anthems at the Masque Club. “They played three songs, and two of them were the same song,” one witness remembers about that gig.

Showtime has released the official trailer for The Go-Go’s, an upcoming documentary that delves into the wholly unique story of the titular all-female New Wave band. The doc will premiere on Showtime August 1st at 9 p.m. Et.

The clip offers a broad breakdown of the band’s lightning-fast journey to stardom, which started in the late Seventies when they were just a fledgling act in the Los Angeles punk scene. “Their set was three songs long and two of them were the same song!” remembers punk poet Pleasant Gehman with a laugh.

Hilary Duff is back with new music and we couldn't be happier! On Wednesday, the 32-year-old singer and actress released a cover of Third Eye Blind's "Never Let You Go" that she did with producer Rac and her husband Matthew Koma. Not only does it mark the couple's first track together, but it also marks Duff's first new song in almost four years. She previously released her album Breathe In. In the terrific documentary “The Go-Go’s,” there’s a tasty clip of the band playing an early club gig in 1979, when they were part of the L.A. punk scene. They wear bushy black hair and pale white makeup (with rouge!), as if they were trying to be mannequin versions of Darby Crash, and they have the primitive rickety sound of people who were only just learning to play their instruments. Yet despite the raw aura, the gift that would take them far comes through — in the contrapuntal singing, the wobbly vibrance of their hooks. They had yet to figure out what they were doing, but seeing these young women up on stage in the ratty club milieu, you can already tell that history had a plan for them.

“The Go-Go’s” is And it does so by spotlighting how the revolutionary aspect of their journey was embedded in everything they did.

The meteoric and ruinous rise to fame is more than a movie cliché; it’s a virtual guarantee for just about any artist without his or her head screwed on straight. But “The Go-Go’s” tackles the seminal all-female ’80s rock band with such honesty, openness and effervescence that it not only rises above that clichéd, almost telegraphed arc but transcends the ranks of other music documentaries to offer a story you desperately want to keep watching, even when you already know where it’s going.

Narratives surrounding disappearances, especially those of children, are becoming more and more popular. With the success of shows like Stranger Things, Sharp Objects, and Dark, it’s easy to see why. There’s some really good mystery there, which is primarily due to the investigative element that holds those shows together. However, in the case of Jennifer Reeder’s Knives and Skin, there isn’t one. What was promoted as being an investigation into the disappearance of a missing girl turns into an exploration of all the drama and secrets that lie within the film’s suburbia.

Showtime is head over heels for The Go-Go’s. The network has acquired the U.S. rights to an upcoming documentary on the iconic all-female rock band, Showtime announced on Saturday. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

The documentary, aptly titled “The Go-Go’s,” will take an in-depth look at the band’s meteoric rise from the Los Angeles punk and new wave scene of the late ’70s and early ’80s. Alison Ellwood — director of the well-received two-part rock doc “History of the Eagles” that aired in 2013 on Showtime — is attached to direct the project.

American independent cinema has gone through several generations since the end of the 1990s. The accelerated evolution might mirror the technological advances of the past 20 years, from the easy availability of early, consumer-grade digital cameras to the ubiquity of streaming platforms, as well as new social networks and the rising impact of regional film festivals.

You can put all that in perspective by spending a week in, of all places, Wrocław, Poland, where the ninth edition of the American Film Festival concluded this fall. The festival thoughtfully reframes highlights from the preceding year’s run of major (and minor) film gatherings, cherry-picking selections out of Sundance, South by Southwest, Tribeca, and others, as well as more multiplex-friendly items getting a premium introduction to the Polish market.

Head Over Heels, the Broadway musical featuring songs from The Go-Go’s including the title tune, “We Got The Beat” and “Our Lips Are Sealed” will play its final performance Sunday, Jan. 6, 2019, producers announced today.

The musical, which opened at the Hudson Theatre on July 26, will have played 188 regular performances and 37 previews by the time it closes next month. The production, greeted by mixed reviews, never caught fire at the box office, and has been struggling in recent weeks with grosses hovering around 20% of a

$883,552 box office potential. Even during weeks when 60% of seats were filled, modest average ticket prices of $61 kept box office far from reaching potential.

“Along with my partners, creative team and cast, it was our desire to create a piece of live theatre that celebrates love of all kinds and portrays a world of beauty in which joy and acceptance reign above all else,” said lead producer Christine Russell.

For better or worse, Broadway’s Head Over Heels is stuck with being known as “the Go-Go’s musical” – better because of the good will floating on stage with all those lighter-than-air hits by Belinda Carlisle, Jane Wiedlin, et.al., worse because the hard-working new production can’t seem to keep itself from popping those effervescence tune bubbles one by one.

With the Go-Go’s music shotgun-wedded to Sir Philip Sidney’s 16th century prose poem The Arcadia – a marriage conceived by Avenue Q‘s Jeff Whitty, who wrote the original book before splitting, reportedly in part over his inclination to rewrite some of the Go-Go’s lyrics – Head Over Heels is Elizabethan farce by way of ye olde MTV. The verse may be archaic, but the we’re here sentiment is as up to date as last week’s episode of RuPaul’s Drag Race.

Pack your bags, because we're going on a sartorial journey with Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen. Before they were running their fashion empire (or back when they were starting out with Walmart), the Olsen twins made a career out of traveling the world. You know, in a straight-to-video movie kind of way. Meanwhile, the limited engagement of The Iceman Cometh wenteth, closing July 1 and taking $911,249 for seven performances, about 76% of its $1.2M potential. Attendance for the Denzel Washington starrer was at 7,090, about 96% of capacity, with ticket-buyers paying an average $129.

Amber Heard was nineteen when she played the title character in Jonathan Levine's slasher film All the Boys Love Mandy Lane; she can at least get away with playing a seventeen year-old. Mandy Lane, which debuts this month on Blu-ray, is better known for its reputation of having been shelved for seven years following its debut at the 2006 Toronto Film Festival for reasons best served by another article. Up to this point, Ms. Heard was already a veteran of four films and several television appearances; this is her first real starring role, as the film rests on her shoulders. She gives quite a remarkably natural performance and having seen her work since this 2005-lensed outing, I would attribute her onscreen “nervousness” as the object of affection by testosterone-driven wolves in her midst to her skill as a serious dramatic actress than to an inability to relax...

I am running late, so I park the Ducati on the sidewalk and toss the keys to an eager production assistant. It is incredibly hot and crowded as I push my way through a crowd of background actors to the location, which has been carefully designed to look like a gallery. Wardrobe has given me an antique Ramones t-shirt (which actually has some of Debbie Harry's vintage blood on the sleeve) and a period Hugo Boss Nazi SS uniform jacket with five firing-squad bullet holes through the left lapel (vintage blood carefully removed). Also, store-torn Alexander McQueen jeans (a gift from an Olsen twin, I think) and flip-flops, which are decorated with pictures of colorful monkeys.

Orlando, Fl, United States (Celebrity News Service) - Sing your way into summer with Universal Orlando Resort's 2011 summer concert series. Six major artists will take the stage from now until July.

The Go-Go's will be starting off the series this weekend. Fans will get to hear this famous punk group play some of their most famous songs, including "We Got the Beat," "Our Lips are Sealed," and "Vacation."

Nelly will take the stage the following Saturday. Other performers will include Trey Songs, Boys Like Girls, and Third Eye Blind. Drake will round out the series with a final concert on July 16.

Universal Studios goers will be able to attend the concerts with their regular admissions passes. The park will provide entertainment during the day, while the concerts will be put on each Saturday night.

The "Rush Hour" hitmaker Jane Wiedlin is confident the upcoming summer tour will remind her bandmates just how much fun they had writing and recording hits like "We Got the Beat" and "Our Lips Are Sealed" three decades ago - and that will prompt them to return to the studio to begin work on a new album.

Actress Lindsay Lohan won't be starring as porn star Linda Lovelace in "Inferno" after all.

The troubled starlet was to make her comeback playing the famous porn star in "Inferno," but director Matthew Wilder told E! Online he could no longer wait for Lohan as she continues her treatment at the Betty Ford clinic.

"We are withdrawing our offer from Lindsay Lohan," Wilder said. "We are currently in negotiations [with another actress] and working out the legalities of bringing her onboard.
