Akshay won Filmfare Award for Best Villain for his role, his first Filmfare award.

Kareena Kapoor and Bobby Deol had issues between each other during the shooting of the film. The argument was due to Tanya Deol being rude to Babita during the outdoor schedule. This angered Kareena and she had a verbal spat with Tanya .Bobby and Kareena decided to work again,in 2005 four years later they worked in Dosti after sorting their differences.
The climax of the film was shot in Muscat, Dubai & Bahrain on the Indian-owned cruise liner Ocean Majesty.
