“The Last Kingdom” and “My Policeman” star David Dawson leads an international cast in the dystopian thriller “The Flaw,” the feature directorial debut of Theophilos Papastylianos, which is currently filming in Athens.
Dawson is joined by U.K. actors Arthur McBain, Ralf Little (“The Royle Family,” “Death in Paradise”) and Danny John-Jules. Veteran Greek theater director Angela Brouskou also joins the cast in a lead role.
Set in a dystopian world dominated by the Regime, “The Flaw” follows a ruthless Interrogator (Dawson) who is ordered by the Special Service to follow a perfect Plan to prove a Suspect (McBain) is guilty. But once the interrogation gets underway, he comes to realize that there is a flaw not only in the Plan, but also in the Regime itself.

The iconic Carry On franchise is being rebooted with Carry On Beside The Sea, here are the details.
The Carry On franchise is a uniquely British institution. Essentially its own sub-genre, the series began in 1958 with William Hartnell and Bob Monkhouse in Carry On Sergeant.
Gradually, the films evolved into innuendo-laden broad farces, which is a stereotype that might be unfair but isn’t entirely untrue. That said, Carry On Camping was the most popular film at the UK box office in 1969, and Carry On Screaming is a brilliant horror parody. The films reached a rather limp conclusion in 1992 with Carry On Columbus, which despite including contemporary comic talent of the time like Rik Mayall and Julian Clary, bombed at the box office.
There have been various unmade Carry On film ideas mooted over the years, as we examined here. The most recent attempt was a script called Carry On Doctors,...

A Strictly Come Dancing contestant has been eliminated from the show just one week before the final.
On Sunday (11 December), the remaining celebrities performed two dances in the hopes of scoring a place in next week’s final.
Sadly, actor Will Mellor fell at the final hurdle and became the 11th person to be voted off this year’s series.
Mellor was in the dance off with singer and radio presenter Fleur East. Craig Revel Horwood and Motsi Mabuse opted to save East, but when Anton Du Beke saved Mellor, it was down to head judge Shirley Ballas to cast the deciding vote.
“First of all, the British public has spoken and with respect I take that on board,” Ballas said. “My fellow judges have decided that they don’t agree, so I have made lots of notes here. Both couples were outstanding and, not only today, but through the series.

Strictly Come Dancingstar Will Mellor has shared how he secretly pays tribute to his late father during his performances.
The Two Pints of Lager and a Packet of Crisps actor was inspired to go on the show after his father passed away from cancer two years ago.
In a new interview with Ok!, Mellor said that he carried a piece of his dad with him during every dance.
“I wear his ring every day for every performance,” Mellor said. “I always have a little moment with it before I go on and dance. It means he’s with me.”
The actor shared that he had been asked to take part in Strictly before but had said no due to fearing it would negatively impact his acting career.
However, following the sudden death of his father, he decided to take on more opportunities.

Will Mellor has shared the unconventional way he might try to win Strictly Come Dancing.
The actor made his dancefloor debut on Saturday (24 September) as the BBC series returned for its 20th series.
Mellor, who is best known for the sitcom Two Pints of Lager and a Packet of Crisps, immediately proved a favourite among viewers, and is now one of the contenders to win the show in December.
However, should his chances slip away, the actor has come up with an idea that could ensure his success.
“I’ve been known to flirt a little bit to get judges on my side – so I might flirt a little bit with Shirley Ballas and Craig Revel Horwood,” he told Radio Times.
Mellor’s processional dance partner is Nancy Xu. They both received a standing ovation from Ballas and her fellow jusde Motsi Mabuse following their first performance, earning an impressive...

An interesting title but a sub genre that is slowly picking up pace, as Uncle Peckerhead fits nicely in the hard to subscribe metal/punk-rock horror movies sub genre. Recent films include the brutal Green Room, the fun slasher The Ranger, real life story Lords of Chaos, the goretastic Deathgasm and now Uncle Peckerhead.
A punk band, with very little money head out on their first tour. Struggling with everything from playing live to finding somewhere to stay each night to getting a tour ‘bus’, things start to look up but a bit messy when they are joined by a man-eating demon as their roadie.

The first new Carry On movie in 25 years, Carry on Doctors, is to address the ongoing crisis in the NHS.
Producer Jonathan Sothcott told the Mirror that a sense of social realism would be vital to recreating the long-running saga for the 21st century. “The NHS is the best thing in the world. But it’s also something that we British love to grumble about – we will be addressing the crisis,” he said.

Plans are afoot for two new Carry On movies, the first of which will arrive 25 years after the last.
Carry On Columbus was, to date, the swansong of the series, released in 1992 to little fanfare and even less acclaim. Even the box office didn’t measure up, pretty much killing the series stone dead.
Well, until now. Production is due to start later this year on a pair of new Carry On films. There’s Carry On Doctors and Carry On Campus, neither of which will feature any of the original stars of the movies (Jim Dale and Barbara Windsor are amongst the surviving names).
Tim Dawson and Susan Nickson, the pair behind Two Pints Of Lager, are penning the screenplays. The idea is to give the series a fresh start, but to keep “the old cheekiness of the past films”. A Carry On Cinematic Universe (Cocu), perhaps?...

Holly birthday, Happyoaks! Sorry, let's try that again. Happy birthday, Hollyoaks! That's better.
It's often written off as the runt of the soap litter, but we're rather affectionate towards Hollyoaks. Surprisingly, it's not only survived but is set to celebrate its 20th anniversary this autumn. It now boasts 50 regulars and a faster pace than any other soap, but can you believe that Hollyoaks once focused on the adventures of only seven main characters?
Launching on Channel 4 in October 1995 with just one episode per week, Hollyoaks gradually earned a place in viewers' hearts as it followed the tangled lives and torrid loves of Kurt, Jambo, Louise, Maddie, Natasha, Dawn and Tony. So where are Chester's magnificent seven now?

Mark counts down 15 great episodes of The Simpsons from its often-overlooked past 15 years...
Last week, we counted down our list of the top 50 episodes of The Simpsons ever made. It's a tough list to make, picking out less than 10 percent of the 552 episodes broadcast to date, to select the very best of the best. This is despite the off-hand consensus of some viewers that the series has been total rubbish since season 10.
We don't hold much truck with this assumption. The Simpsons is an institution and to suggest that more than half of it is garbage is more than a bit reductive. Admittedly, there's much to support the argument that few episodes produced in the twenty-first century can quite stand up to the genius of the earlier canon, but anything would suffer in comparison to that golden age of the show.
If you're one of the people who stopped watching the series after the nineties,...

★★☆☆☆In recent years we've seen British actress Sheridan Smith step away from the image she crafted for herself in the Beeb's Two Pints of Larger and a Packet of Crisps, making headway with an impressive - not to mention award-winning - career in theatre, most notably in the West End adaptation of Legally Blonde. It seems odd, then, that Smith would return to a role that seems beneath her in Mj Delaney's Powder Room (2013). Based on Rachel Heron's Fringe play When Women Wee, Delaney's debut feature gathers together Oona Chaplin, singer-songwriter Kate Nash and Jaime Winstone alongside Smith.

It's a tough ol' time for the UK sitcom right now - even TV veterans can't seem to crack the genre of late. Ben Elton - he of Blackadder and The Young Ones fame - just spewed out the critically-mauled The Wright Way for BBC One, while over on ITV, luminaries of stage and screen Sir Ian McKellen and Sir Derek Jacobi are about to indulge in the dubious pleasures of Vicious - a catty comedy that feels like it was heading for 1974 and somehow got lost along the way.
The sitcom has always been a tough nut to crack, of course - this country has produced some absolute classics, but also some absolute stinkers. This week's Friday Fiver is all about the misfires, the failures, the disasters.

Tower Block
Stars: Sheridan Smith, Russell Tovey, Jack O’Connell, Jill Baker | Written by James Moran | Directed by James Nunn, Ronnie Thompson
The tower block, once a symbol of a growing, healthy populace, has become a blot on the landscape of cities across the country with many now bordering on slum-like living… Serenity House is one such tower block.
Following the news that their tower block is scheduled for demolition and awaiting news of their “re-housing”, the top floor residents of Serenity House go about their daily lives unaware of the repercussions of their inaction during the beating and murder of a young man in the halls of the tower block. And repercussions there are, as the tenants of the top floor of Serenity House discover one morning when a sniper starts picking them off one by one! With all the lifts booby-trapped, every entrance and exit obstructed, the mysterious...

Russell Howard's Good News has been voted by Digital Spy users as the best ever BBC Three show.
Over 10,000 readers voted in our poll, which was held to celebrate the channel turning 10 years old today (February 9).
Comedian Howard's topical news show beat off stiff competition to take 23.6% of the overall vote.
In second place was runaway sitcom success Gavin & Stacey, which took 19.1%.
Further back were Being Human (7.6%), Little Britain (7%) and Torchwood (6.7%).
Doctor Who Confidential, Two Pints of Lager and a Packet of Crisps and The Mighty Boosh just missed out on the top five.
Speaking to Digital Spy last year, Howard admitted that he feels tremendous pressure when working on Good News.
"My personal life suffers," he said of filming the show. "If you do something that has your name on it, it has to be good.
"It's like an extension of your dissertation. I've not worked as hard on anything since being at university.

BBC Three turns 10 on Saturday (February 9) and to celebrate we want to find out what Digital Spy's distinguished readers think is its best ever show.
Our final list of shows is made up of your suggestions, our writers' favourites and some shows that were so popular we couldn't leave them out.
Family Guy and other Us imports were excluded on the grounds that the Beeb can't really take credit for them (although we are grateful they show them). Meanwhile, we were willing to include shows such as Liquid News and Two Pints of Lager, because they are so entwined in the channel's history, even if they did actually start off elsewhere (BBC Choice and BBC Two).
What do you think is the channel's greatest ever show? Vote in our poll:...

It's time to get out Two Pints of Lager and a Packet of Crisps, head down Barry Island and party Mighty Boosh style - BBC Three turns 10 on Saturday night (February 9).
The channel has created huge comedy hits, stunning cult dramas and plenty of controversial documentaries over the last decade. It's also given us some genuinely stinking TV, but hey, none of us are perfect.
To celebrate the channel's upcoming birthday, take a look back at some of its best (and worst) shows in our gallery below:

Sheridan Smith made her name with a girl next door turn in Gavin and Stacey. Now her star has risen in the West End – from Legally Blonde to Hedda Gabler. Dustin Hoffman sees her future in Hollywood. Here, she tells Megan Conner about the most incredible 12 months of her life
Exactly 12 hours before I'm due to meet Sheridan Smith, the actor takes to her Twitter page. "Oh I can't stop crying. Hate myself sometimes, just can't be myself. I can only play characters. Wish I had more confidence when I'm being me," she writes. Within minutes, a stream of her some 310,000 followers are tweeting furiously.
"Omg, don't beat yourself up!" they say. "Stop stop stop that now," another instructs. One user, @Londontheatre1, has some helpful advice: Smith should draw on the strength of her characters, Ronnie Biggs's long-suffering ex-wife in the ITV drama Mrs Biggs, or Elle Woods, the...

Opening with one of my favourite one-liners in the show, Kevin Bridges voices his concern over possible repercussions of Jimmy Carr’s recent tax avoidance scandal “wait ’till the press hear about me – I’m still signing on!”
And so begins Bridges’ latest stand-up offering, Kevin Bridges: The Story Continues.
The appeal of Kevin Bridges is his salt-of-the-earth, everyman appeal. While some comedy acts choose to approach life’s little challenges from the comfortable middle class, with smarts or simply from a surreal place we can only dream of, Kevin Bridges roots himself firmly in the “rough” streets of the nations council estates, and dare I say it might feel totally at home in Two Pints of Lager and a Packet of Crisps.
While commenting on the economic crisis, Bridges is quick to inform the audience that many of his own friends are beyond unemployed, currently sitting in the...

Watching Quartet, eyes are likely to be set less on the distinguished cast adorning the frame, and more on the man standing behind it. In his directorial debut, Dustin Hoffman proves himself a capable helmer, even if the subject matter proves less-than inspiring.
Wheeling out a reputable roster of old folk, Hoffman tells the tale of four ageing opera singers – Reggie (Tom Courtenay), Wilfred (Billy Connolly), Cissy (Pauline Collins) and Jean (Maggie Smith) – who reunite at a special retirement community for elderly artists. When the idea arises that the four should recreate one of their famous recordings on stage, they will have to weather the inevitabilities of old age, alongside diva-like behaviour, and some unresolved personal tensions which threaten to derail everything.
Maggie Smith is the most apparently well-cast of the bunch, wearing a sad, forlorn expression for most of her screen time that indicates a...

Sheridan Smith has laid out her belief that her starring role in Mrs Biggs is a challenge. She told What's on TV: "It's really grown-up for me. I don't usually get to play sophisticated (more)...

British action-thriller Tower Block made its UK debut as the closing film of the Film4 FrightFest over the weekend, and went down brilliantly.
We caught the first poster back in July, and with its release here now less than a month away, Lionsgate have released the excellent first trailer.
“Hear no evil, speak no evil, see no evil. When Jimmy is brutally murdered by two hooded figures, Becky, Kurtis, Neville and the other residents of the Serenity House tower block are witnesses to the killing but, fearing retribution, are too scared to give detectives any information and the police investigation is going nowhere.
One year later, someone has decided to take justice into their own hands. Picked off one by one, the tenants of Serenity House are under threat from a mystery sniper who has set deadly traps throughout the building keeping them prisoners in their own homes.
Unsure of why they have been targeted,...

By far one of the most promising comedies of 2013, Cuban Fury is based on idea by the ever-brilliant Nick Frost (Shaun of the Dead), and sees Frost starring alongside the brilliant Rashida Jones (Celeste and Jesse Forever), Chris O’Dowd (Bridesmaids), and Olivia Colman (Tyrannosaur).
We’ve seen four videos from the set already, and now the film has debuted its fifth video blog, with O’Dowd giving us two minutes of insider access behind the scenes.
“Beneath Bruce Garrett’s shabby, overweight exterior, the passionate beating heart of a salsa king lays dormant. Only one woman can reignite his Latin fire. Spotlight hits, sweat drips, heels click – Nick Frost Is Cuban Fury.”
James Griffiths (Episodes, Up All Night) makes his feature directorial debut, with Jon Brown (Misfits, Two Pints of Lager) penning the script from Frost’s original idea, and Ian McShane (Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides...

If there’s one genre we do better than most in the UK, it’s the thriller.
The good thing about them: You don’t need $200m. to make them. (There aren’t any bad things about them.)
Tower Block hits the big screen this September, starring the brilliant Sheridan Smith (Two Pints of Lager), Jack O’Connell (Eden Lake, the upcoming 300: Battle of Artemisia), Russell Tovey (Being Human), and newcomer Kane Robinson, and we’ve been sent the first UK quad poster.

The BBC’s television channel aimed squarely at 16-34 year olds, BBC Three, is sadly probably better known in the U.K. for its shoddy sitcoms than it is for quality broadcasts. Crude, unsophisticated, and just plain not funny, the channel’s early programming was typified by the awful and long-lived “Two Pints of Lager and a Packet of Crisps.” That’s not to say the channel’s entire comedy output since its 2003 launch has been awful – “Little Britain,” “Being Human” and “Gavin & Stacey” in particular have experienced a great deal of success . One of BBC Three’s strangest and most interesting shows though was a dark comedy called “Ideal” which ran for seven seasons between 2005 and 2011.
The show was about a small-time cannabis dealer from Salford called Moz (played by comedian Johnny Vegas). The show took place almost entirely in Moz’s bedsit and saw a variety of bizarre...

"Hysteria" director Tanya Wexler hadn't made a movie in years when producer Tracey Becker approached her with an idea: a romantic comedy about the invention of the vibrator. "I’ve made teeny little movies. Then I made a bunch of kids and so I was in the mom cave for a while," Wexler says. But when she learned about Joseph Mortimer Granville, the doctor responsible for the world's most popular sex toy, she couldn't resist. "Oh my god, Tracey and a friend of hers mentioned that this weird historical fact existed. She wrote up a two-page treatment idea, and I was like, 'Ok, I’ll get the writers. I’ll find our co-producers. I don’t care what it takes. I have to see that.'"
The resulting movie, starring Hugh Dancy and Maggie Gyllenhaal, premiered at the Toronto Film Festival in September and opens in theaters this weekend. Wexler...

The casting of Nick Frost in a British salsa dancing comedy in itself sounds absolutely genius, and I’m already predicting that this will be one of the funniest films of next year.
Variety report that Cuban Fury has brilliantly cast its four leads in the form of Nick Frost, Rashida Jones, Chris O’Dowd, and Olivia Colman, with James Griffiths (Episodes) set to make his feature directorial debut from a script by Jon Brown (Misfits, Two Pints of Lager), similarly making his feature debut.
The film,
“is based on an original idea from Frost about a shabby, down-on-his-luck man (played by Frost) who reignites his long-dormant passion for salsa dancing thanks to a new-found love for his gorgeous American boss (played by Jones).”

Single mothers, spinsters, curious teenage girls and any woman who has ever experienced loneliness rejoice! For the movie you have all been waiting for is here.
I know, I know, it seems bizarre that Hollywood have waited this long to turn the origins of your favourite bed time pal (or bedroom ornament to the kids) in to a movie, but now you have it in the form of a supposed romantic comedy ‘Hysteria’ which is all about the real life conception of the first female vibrator as a cure for the title condition, a common diagnosis in the 19th century.
Now I know there are many clever innuendos I could make between the plot of this movie and Hollywood scraping the bottom of the barrel, but for the life of me I can’t think of one that would work. So must soldier on with actually looking at the concept of the movie,...
