“Below Deck Down Under” sets sail for another potentially chaotic episode this Monday. “Rumble in the Jungle” suggests the high seas are about to get a little choppy, and it’s not just because of the waves. The crew has organized “Fear Factor”-inspired games for the charter guests, which, let’s face it, could go either way. […]

John Cleese’s social media accounts are chock-full of heated political opinions, peppered with the occasional “Ministry of Silly Walks” Gif that his assistants no doubt scheduled for him. Now, one of Cleese’s takes is reaching a lot of eyeballs — but it’s nearly 40 years old, and was shared by the guy who used to host Fear Factor.
Yes, podcaster Joe Rogan recently took to Instagram to praise an archival clip of Cleese from 1987, in which the ex-Python ironically argues for the advantages for “extremism,” which include how it makes you “feel good” because it “provides you with enemies.” Get it?
“If you have a lot of anger and resentment in you anyway, and you therefore enjoy abusing people, then you can pretend that you’re only doing it because these enemies of yours are such very bad persons,” Cleese deadpanned. “And if it wasn’t for them,...

No one expected one of the most iconic The Office episodes from Season 3, Beach Games, to turn into ‘Survivor: Hot Dog Edition’. But what was supposed to be Michael Scott’s chaotic competition for choosing his next Branch Manager, turned into a nauseating behind-the-scenes experience for Ed Helms.
Ed Helms in a still from The Office | Image: NBC
While fans laughed at Andy’s unfortunate floatie fiasco and Dwight’s intensity, Ed Helms claimed to be facing a different nightmare. Picture this: a bucket filled with chewed-up hot dogs. Gross, right? Thanks to his overactive gag reflex, Helms endured a real-life Fear Factor moment while shooting Beach Games. And now, we can’t decide what’s worse—losing the manager race or surviving that puke-inducing experience.

Netflix is adding over a dozen new titles to its inventory this week. From new seasons of current hits to topnotch sleeper movies, you can find something for everyone this week on your favorite streaming service.
No, there isn't anything coming this week that's likely to have the same impact as the number one show, Adolescence. By the way, it's every bit as good as the critics say it is. Okay, maybe one show will. But it really isn't likely that anything debuting this week will knock The Electric State out of its top spot among movies. I believe the critics are just as wrong about the sci-fi movie as they are right about the top-ranked drama.
But that's a discussion - or diatribe - for another time. For now, let's delve into the various worlds of zombies, hip-hop, reality shows, and comedy coming up this week. No, that's not all one show,...

After a period of new programming and ratings increases to boot, Sinclair has decided to rebrand its comedy-filled multicast television network.

Mortal Kombat is one of the most successful action media franchises of all time, but it has pretty much the same story as every other video game that got adapted into a live-action project: A disappointing series of events. That said, it’s quite surprising that someone as famous and riding hot on the success of The Boys as Karl Urban would want to join the franchise.

While there have been fans who found the live-action film series bearable due to certain elements of it as well, the movies haven’t quite fared all that finely among critics, so Urban’s joining the second film in the reboot saga is a rather questionable choice. But what’s even more questionable is his casting as Johnny Cage, for which, fans have already given 3 other better candidates.

BBC Studios has confirmed it will cease producing in India, with Banijay Asia gaining access to its formats catalog in the country.
The BBC’s production and sales arm has been mulling an exit from Indian production for several weeks and today confirmed it will “cease its own production activity locally, once current and contracted commitments are delivered, to focus on this new model in India.”
A BBC spokeswoman said four full-time staff members and 30 fixed-term contractors will lose their roles as a result of the move.
In place of BBC Studios’ own local production, an agreement with Banijay Asia described as “multi-year” has been struck. It will see Banijay Asia gaining access to all of BBC Studios scripted and unscripted formats, including The 1% Club and The Great Bake Off, and looking to place them with India’s broadcasters and streamers.

On Reddit’s r/television forum, TV buffs have been naming they believe were sabotaged by their networks — sabotaged, for example, by a storyline choice, by airing episodes out of order, by a conspicuous lack of promotion, or by a time slot change. “I have heard this story told many times about many shows,” one user wrote, starting the conversation on February 1. “But how many of these are actually malicious decisions, and how many are due to incompetence? What examples do we have where it is confirmed that a show was intentionally sabotaged by people who wanted an excuse to cancel them?” Here are some of the TV shows commenters cited: The Drew Carey Show One commenter wrote, “After The Drew Carey Show was renewed for Seasons 7, 8, and 9, the ratings slipped for Season 7. Sister Wives has shown how the pandemic created a perfect scenario to unravel the family. But many fans have a difficult time pinpointing when the rules were truly devised. However, one fan connects the first moment that Robyn Brown’s Covid rules were conceived during a review of earlier seasons.
Sister Wives Covid-19 Rules Made The Favoritism Clear
Many Sister Wives fans know that Covid-19 was a very touchy subject in the Brown family. In many ways, it created tension that had been kept at bay up until that point. However, when Kody Brown put his foot down and refused to bend on the rules during the pandemic, it caused minor rifts to become canyons. Especially, with Kody, Garrison, and Gabe Brown. The changes made the existing favoritism very pronounced. Likewise, Christine Brown discussed in Season 19, that Robyn had been plotting the takeover for years. But check out the clip...

Thankfully for fans who love reality TV, the genre seems to have shows for all situations. After all, there are bizarre reality shows that shock fans, reality shows that make viewers feel good, and trashy reality shows to make viewers feel better about their lives. There are also reality shows that are so weird that it is shocking they ever aired and competition shows that are thrilling for fans to watch.
Whether fans watch Netflix's best reality shows or they use Peacock to get their reality show fix, the aforementioned variety gives viewers a lot to love. While there are so many reality shows to choose from, fans have to choose carefully according to IMDb. After all, many popular reality shows turn out to have shockingly low IMBb ratings.

Over the last few decades, there have been many reality shows which prove how varied the TV genre can be. After all, there have been great competition shows, cooking shows, dating shows, and more. There have also been reality shows that are perfect to binge-watch, that make viewers feel good, and some that are undeniably trashy. If all that wasn't enough, there have also been offensive reality shows that wouldn't fly today which may have starred memorable villains who've crossed the line.
Since the reality TV genre has so much variety, it may seem silly to bring back a show from the past. However, a revival of TLC's What Not To Wear would be fantastic to see today, since nice and mean versions of the show would add something to the reality TV genre that is currently missing.

The Muppets and holiday entertainment go hand-in-hand with a rod attached to it. Obviously, there’s The Muppet Christmas Carol, which some would say is the greatest adaptation of Charles Dickens’ classic story (the worst being that musical with Kelsey Grammer). And then there was A Muppet Family Christmas, which teamed up the Muppet Show characters with the Sesame Street gang — only to have it all ruined by a bummer of a teaser for Nightline.
But the Muppets also starred in a number of other holiday specials, including a musical show with John Denver and A Muppets Christmas: Letters to Santa. Yet, while all of those shows mostly kept their shit together, the 2002 TV movie It's a Very Merry Muppet Christmas Movie went to some truly weird places.
Okay, first of all, the most notorious aspect of this movie, which we’ve talked about before, is that it popularized the “Muppets did 9/11” conspiracy theory.

The original king of YouTubers, PewDiePie, has been markedly quieter in recent years, but he just popped up after watching some Joe Rogan, and the Swedish vlogger was quite unimpressed.
Joe's career trajectory took him from stand-up comedy to hosting the reality TV show Fear Factor, and then to his now-massively influential podcast, The Joe Rogan Experience.
PewDiePie, whose real name is Felix Kjellberg, eventually ceded the title of top YouTuber, first to T-Series, and then to MrBeast.

When it comes to live streaming, things can go from zero to a hundred in the blink of an eye. But sometimes, they go from zero to Oh my god, what just happened?! in even less time. That’s exactly what happened when Kai Cenat’s subathon, Mafiathon 2, took an unexpected turn during a live stunt with magician Max Major.
Kai Cenat | Credit: YouTube/Kai Cenat
Known for his over-the-top antics and viral moments, Cenat managed to stir up the internet when a 34-second clip from his livestream surfaced online, showing an individual seemingly hanging from a noose. At first glance, it was the kind of moment that would make anyone’s heart skip a beat.
But before you start dialing for the nearest emergency services, there’s more to this than meets the eye. Turns out, the shirtless guy caught in the noose was none other than magician and YouTuber Max Major,...

Joe Rogan has tackled some wildly unconventional gigs in his career, but hosting Fear Factor might just top the list. The iconic competition show, packed with death-defying stunts and stomach-turning challenges, was a TV sensation in its time.

However, there’s one stunt Rogan, despite his daredevil persona, openly admits he wasn’t a fan of. On a podcast episode, he spilled the behind-the-scenes tea on what really went down.
Joe Rogan Was Not on Board with This Wild Fear Factor Stunt!
Reality TV often follows a script, but Fear Factor was a different beast altogether, completely unpredictable and wild. No one, not even the contestants, could guess what awaited them during the insane stunts.
While every challenge was supervised by professionals, the show tapped into that little voice in viewers’ heads saying, “I could totally do that.

There was a lot of love in Madison Square Garden tonight between Donald Trump and Joe Rogan.
Just over two weeks after the 45th and soon-to-be 47th Potus sat down with the ex-Fear Factor host for a three hour interview on Rogan’s blockbuster podcast, the bromance took it up a notch Saturday at UFC 309 with a long hug between the two men and some clearly very kind words.
As expected, Trump showed up at Msg tonight to add some Commander-in-chief razzle dazzle to his old pal Dana White’s latest fight night.
The two-time impeached Trump had an entourage that included new-ish buddy Elon Musk, potential Hhs Secretary Rfk Jr., director of National Intelligence nominee Tulsi Gabbard, Kid Rock, Donald Trump Jr. and a clearly uncomfortable Speaker Mike Johnson. Increasingly scandalized Trump cabinet nominees Matt Gaetz and Peter Hegseth were nowhere to be seen.

Did a motley crew of traditional media defectors and outcasts led by Joe Rogan, Megyn Kelly and Tucker Carlson help tip the scales for Donald Trump’s win over Kamala Harris — and shatter the paradigm of an influential fourth estate in the process?
As far as CNN commentator Andrew Yang is concerned, the answer is yes. On Nov. 7, while conducting a postmortem with Van Jones on the cable news network, the former Democratic presidential candidate derided the Harris campaign’s decision to snub the “Joe Rogan Experience” podcast. “And they turned it down because she was too busy?” Yang scoffed. Instead, Trump hit Rogan’s Austin, Texas, studio in the final days of the campaign, racking up a massive audience. “On YouTube alone, … 48 million views,” Jones marveled. On a night when Harris could have fielded easy questions about some of Rogan’s favorite topics — from the benefits of psychedelics to...

There likely won’t be a winner declared when the polls close Tuesday night. But even before the results are final, there are some clear winners and losers in this year’s topsy-turvy race for the White House between Kamala Harris and Donald Trump.
Let’s go to the Decision Desk:
Talking Heads
Winner: Charlamagne Tha God
That Comedy Central show may not have worked out, but The Breakfast Club co-host truly spoke truth to power this election season, repeatedly. From warning Americans against what could happen after Election Day, Joe Biden’s electoral and cultural shortcomings and the burning desire out there in a divided nation for less jargon and more straight talk, he was way ahead of the curve. In piercing on-air interviews with Kamala Harris and RNC boss Lara Trump, Charlamagne owned the curve. Calling out CNN’s “bullsh*t”-spouting Anderson Cooper and the mainstream media...

Unlike its rivals, NBCUniversal long ago developed a healthy fear of zombies.
Not the shambling, undead kind that lurch around trying to eat brains, but rather the media variety: “Undead” cable networks that long ago gave up all hopes of cultivating audiences around the clock and instead run only a few hours of original programming, coupled with seemingly endless repeats of TV favorites, like “Ridiculousness” (MTV); “Fear Factor” (Hln); or “Seinfeld” (Comedy Central).
Paramount Global and Warner Bros. Discovery, two of the bigger owners of these cable-network wraiths, haven’t had much to show for keeping them up and running. Indeed, Warner in August unveiled a massive $9.1 billion write-down of its TV assets, citing business headwinds as well as the projected loss of its lucrative agreement with the NBA to show games on its cable networks. Paramount Global followed suit, revealing a $5.98 billion impairment charge as it prepared for its acquisition by Skydance Media.

A week from today the first Election Night results will be just hours away, but tonight Kamala Harris plans to double down on her critique of and contempt for Donald Trump in the very place where the former president riled up the Maga mob to attack the Capitol on January 6, 2021.
“Donald Trump has spent a decade trying to keep the American people divided and afraid of each other, the Vice President will say of her self-declared “dictator on Day One” rival during her remarks tonight at the Ellipse in Washington, DC. “That’s who he is.”
“But America, I am here tonight to say: that’s not who we are,” the VP intends to say in her closing-argument remarks, according to excerpts provided by the campaign in this margin of error, tight race.

The aughts had its share of reality shows, ranging from bizarre (Kid Nation) to majorly successful (American Idol) to even cruel (Fear Factor). But one reality TV show emerging in the middle of the decade combined all three of the aforementioned qualities to be perhaps the strangest, cruelest, yet oddly successful reality show of the decade: The Swan. The Swan promised to be a show unlike any other, and it makes good on that promise. It ran for two seasons on Fox from April 7 to December 20, 2004. Its premise was to take women who are ugly ducklings, sequester them for three months, all the while performing multiple plastic surgeries on them, subjecting them to a demanding exercise routine, and having them attend therapy sessions. It was a ratings' success, with an average of 9.1 million viewers.

Forget the battleground states, the closing days battle this election is turning out to be for young men, and Donald Trump is hoping to seal the deal with a sit-down with Joe Rogan later this week.
In the latest twist in the sometimes barbed back and forth between the former president and the ex-Fear Factor host, Trump will visit Rogan’s Austin, TX podcast studio on Friday to tape an interview. Sources close to both the Trump and Rogan camps confirm the October 25 interview to Deadline.
No date given yet as to when the podcast will post. But, with the November 5 election a dead heat and the GOP strategy centering on men to get them over the top, the Trump edition of the Joe Rogan Experience will likely be made available within a week.

Reality TV might be commonplace nowadays, but the early 2000s is where it really took off. Shows like Survivor and Fear Factor took the world by storm, and pretty soon every network on TV was racing to get their own reality shows on the air especially Fox. While Fox viewers might think of American Idol or one of Gordon Ramsay's shows when they think of its reality programming, there is one show that's completely flown under the cultural radar: Joe Millionaire. Joe Millionaire was best known for its unique premise, but also for constantly obscuring the truth from its contestants. Even the very premise of the show was a lie!

Despite being arguably the most popular American podcaster, Joe Rogan has come under fire for his poorly rated new Netflix stand-up special, Burn the Boats. Filmed at his own comedy club, The Mothership in Austin, Texas, performed in front of a crowd of friends and podcast fans, critics and general fans have lambasted Rogan's latest comedy routine for being obnoxiously unfunny at best and offensively unoriginal at worst.
Not only does Rogan repeat past jokes he's recited on stage, but he's also lifted lines and concepts from much funnier stand-ups like Bill Burr and others. For a popular commentator and cultural tastemaker like Rogan who wears many creative hats, it's a real wonder why he struggles to succeed at his so-called profession. More curious is how...

It’s part of TV comedy history that Joe Rogan replaced an actor named Greg Lee in the sitcom NewsRadio, making Rogan a household name and setting the stage for Fear Factor and eventual world domination. It would be easy to point an angry finger at Lee, who actually starred in the NewsRadio pilot, for not holding onto the job that would give Rogan a fame foothold. But there was a third comic actor who was cast before Lee. And if Ray Romano could have done a better job of impressing producers, we’d live in a very different timeline.
Yep, it was the future Everybody Loves Raymond star who was first cast as the electrician on NewsRadio. Romano auditioned and got the part in 1994 — only to get fired two days into rehearsals.
What was the problem? Producers felt like Romano’s sleepy line delivery was slowing down the show’s rapid-fire comic pace.

Imagine if someone gave you a Joe Rogan bingo card in advance of tonight’s live Netflix special, Burn the Boats. The card has all the usual topics you’d find in a month’s worth of Joe Rogan Experience podcasts — alien probes, Fear Factor, Covid vaccines, trans people, gay people, UFC, Fox News, Alex Jones, China, Elon Musk, the N-slur, the F-slur, the R-slur and whether or not Rogan is canceled.
Congratulations, champ! Your card just won the game horizontally, vertically and diagonally. Over the course of his special tonight, Rogan played every one of those greatest hits.
As I watched Burn the Boats, I was already predicting headlines like Variety’s “Joe Rogan Slams Covid Vaccines, Trans People.” And yep, Rogan provided plenty of individual lines to cherry-pick, supporting any argument anyone wants to make against him. But the special was way more toothless than you might think.

Netflix has found the stopgap solution for the periods between Dave Chappelle specials.
Chappelle, the modern-legend comedian whose legacy has been complicated by the anti-trans material in his Netflix specials, has helped to clarify that the streaming service primarily cares about eyeballs at any cost. What is complicated, and heartbreaking, about Chappelle’s recent material is that he is a generationally gifted comic storyteller who seems compelled by belief to speak out against trans people. Meanwhile, what seems clear about Joe Rogan, whose new special, “Burn the Boats,” aired live on Netflix Aug. 3, is that he’s a sort of inverse Chappelle. He is not a generationally gifted comedian, or even a very good one, but his invocations of culture-war wedge issues bring him attention he would otherwise not have merited.

Show producers pressured a chef with a serious head injury to make career-altering decisions without proper support.
There have been many onscreen Top Chef controversies, like when a chef was accused of stealing someone else's food and serving it. Unfortunately, something that many fans don't know is that there have also been several behind-the-scenes scandals.
For example, Padma Lakshmi claimed she was harassed on set and one competitor claimed the show's locations disadvantage some chefs. According to a competitor from the Top Chef: Just Desserts spin-off, the show's producers also have a history of being cruel to the chefs.

The Total Drama series was a massive hit for Cartoon Network. The series originally aired in Canada on Teletoon before going global by 2008. The series immediately stood out among Cartoon Network's usual fare; Total Drama Island was a parody of reality shows like Survivor and Fear Factor. The series featured more mature humor, similar to Teletoon's popular 6teen animated series.
With the success of Total Drama Island, the series continued for years with several spin-offs. Despite the series coming to an end in 2016, Max's reboot was officially released in June 2024. With the number of seasons, spin-offs, and revivals to its name, some seasons of Total Drama were more successful than others, both in terms of ratings and fan reception.
