The upcoming Ladakh International Film Festival (Liff) will host a Retrospective on poet, lyricist and director Gulzar curated by filmmaker Vishal Bharadwaj. The Retrospective will screen Mere Apne, Achanak, Ijazat, Khushboo, Angoor and Machis.

The festival will held in Leh, Ladakh from July 5-7, 2013. It will be inaugurated by Chief Minister of Jammu & Kashmir, Omar Abdullah and I&B Minister of India Manish Tiwari will be the Chief Guest for the closing ceremony.

Directorate of Film Festivals has curated a special section of women oriented films made in India. This section will screen Diamond Queen by Homi Wadia, Meghe Dhaka Tara by Ritwik Ghatak, Mirch Masala by Ketan Mehta, Dasi by B. Narsing Rao, Dahan by Rituparno Ghosh, Chandani Bar by Madhur Bhandarkar, Mee Sindhutai Sapkal by Anant Mahadevan and Byari by Suveeran.

New York -- Nicki Minaj's New York City concert featured usual suspects like her mentor Lil Wayne and label mate Drake, but it was another guest appearance that was really striking: rapper Foxy Brown.

Brown joined Minaj onstage Tuesday night at the Roseland Ballroom. Before she took the stage, Minaj said she wanted to introduce "the female rapper who influenced me the most."

As Brown entered, the crowd of nearly 3,000 roared. She performed three songs from her last album, 2001's "Broken Silence."

"'Broken Silence' changed my life," Minaj said. "I always loved Foxy. When she put out `Broken Silence,' I knew she was an innovator."

The Queens-based Minaj added that although Brown is "crazy sometimes," she's also ahead of her time.

"There aren't any other female rappers who have opened doors for me than you," Minaj said, looking to Brown and quickly adding: "You and Lauryn (Hill)."

It's a big week for the hip-hop world, as one of its favorite sons is about to come home. Lil Wayne is scheduled to be released from Riker's Island this week, ending a jail sentence that saw the rapper serve a total of eight months behind bars. The guy will be emerging in awfully good shape, as he currently has an album on the Billboard chart (the number-one selling I Am Not A Human Being) and plenty of demand from his fans and friends (Drake is ready to bring him back in, and Nicki Minaj's album will be out shortly). As long as he keeps himself clean, he'll be in excellent shape.
