Paramount+ is ready to rock — and they've released over 125 episodes of musical performances to its streaming service to prove it. Coming at you from the other Viacom-owned properties like MTV Unplugged, VH1 Storytellers, and CMT Crossroads, many of the episodes haven't been seen since they first aired. And with a list of performances that includes the likes of Elton John, Neil Young, Mariah Carey, Pearl Jam, Bob Dylan, and even Nirvana's now-iconic November 1993 performance — which aired a mere seven months before the singer Kurt Cobain died — the list is a treasure trove for any music fan.

According to a press release from the streamer, more than 70 of the episodes have not been available to the public for more than 20 years. And, considering how much purging of content Paramount Global has done over the years, it's a relief to see that some things still get saved in the digital age.

Jon M. Chu is assuring fans that Britney Spears will be “very involved” in the adaptation of her bestselling 2023 memoir “The Woman in Me.”

Chu told Entertainment Tonight that the mega-star will definitely be part of the production for his upcoming Universal film, which is based on Spears’ life. “La La Land” and Broadway producer Marc Platt is also producing the big-screen adaptation.

“She’s going to be very involved,” Chu said of Spears. “I haven’t really started anything fully yet. But she will be very involved in this. I have ideas and things of an approach, but it’s very, very early.”

However, there has not been anyone cast yet as singer Spears.

“I’ve seen all the fan casting, I’ve seen all that stuff, and I always take those into consideration because maybe there’s a good idea out there,” Chu said. “But we’ll have to see.

Over a year after Barbie's record-breaking theatrical release, Netflix added the highest-grossing film of 2023 to its library, where it sits among many other similar movies. Leslie Fram, CMT’s senior VP of music strategy and talent for some 13 years, penned a farewell letter to the staff that she posted on social media Tuesday, just days after the channel was gutted by the network-wide layoffs at its parent company Paramount Global.

Meryl Streep could soon have her next major TV role. Variety has confirmed with sources that Streep is attached to star in a series adaptation of the Jonathan Franzen novel “The Corrections.”

No streaming service or network is attached to the project at this time, but it will be taken out to market soon. Franzen is adapting the novel for the screen and will serve as executive producer. Mark Roybal of wiip will also executive produce. CBS Studios is behind the project. The project was formerly at Paramount Television Studios before it was shut down in August, with Nicole Clemens of Ptvs executive producing as well.

Reps for CBS Studios declined to comment.

Universal is ready to hit filmgoers with the story of pop star Britney Spears’ life.

In a highly competitive situation, the studio has landed the rights to the singer’s 2023 best-selling memoir The Woman in Me. Jon M. Chu, who is helming the studio’s forthcoming two-part Wicked feature adaptation, is attached to direct. Marc Platt (Wicked, La La Land) is set to produce.

Spears took to social media to celebrate the news. “Excited to share with my fans that I’ve been working on a secret project with #MarcPlatt,” she posted. “He’s always made my favorite movies … stay tuned.”

The Woman in Me, which was published by Gallery Books on Oct. 24, 2023, has sold 2.5 million copies in the U.S. Read by Michelle Williams, the audiobook was the fastest-selling in Simon & Schuster’s history and was Spotify’s top audiobook of 2023.
