Oi kekarmenoi

Nice film, nice music

The film Kekarmenoi,(the word means 'jarhead' in ancient Greek)is based on a novel by Nico Kasdaglis and has to do with stories related to the army. It is set on a small, Greek city (probably Misolonghi) in the early 50s, some years after the disastrous civil war in Greece between communists and national army.Five people who try to overcome difficulties, to heal their wounds, to survive and live. A soldier, a whore, an ESA (Greek military police) sergeant. These heroes are not important; rather ordinary. The film explores the relationships of these people but also makes a serious comment on the harsh situations that many young people faced when they were in the army. Not forget to mention the nice soundtrack by Nico Mamagakis. A Greek film not very known but it surely deserves watching.
