Bigas Luna chose Leonor Watling for Martina's role, after having invited her to his farmhouse in Torredembarra, in Tarragona. During a dinner he recorded her a bit treacherously with his digital camera in front of some prawns scratched. She blushed. It was that natural blush that decided his choice. Then Bigas tried to convince her that he would make a whole sea of her bare breasts, and involved her in the very party of living the pleasures in which the director was a master."
In an interview, Bigas Luna remembered that when Leonor Watling told her mother that she had been offered a role in this film, mother's response was: 'and will you have to show your pussy, my child?'
