Interesting and alluring, the film is very well directed by Rama Rao Tatieni. It is increasingly more intense as time goes by and the court scenes are very well done. The characters of Malati and Shakuntala represent the strong women of the society who will do anything to fight societal injustice. They don't spend time crying for their ill-fate. I liked the portrayal of their friendship and rapport and how both find ways to help each other (see the film to understand). The story is good, the dialogues are well-written, the music by Laxmikant-Pyarelal is melodious, and the film's style quite reminds me of Hrishikesh Mukherjee's style of film-making. The film is not overdone and for the most part does not go over the top.
The film belongs to Rati Agnihotri and she gets full scope to showcase her natural acting talent with the principled and uncompromising attitude of her character. Mithun is great in this semi-negative role. Danny manages to be as hateful as possible. But expectedly enough, the real show-stealer is Rekha, who plays her fantastic role of a decisive lawyer with great passion and conviction. She was not even 30 and played a 40 plus woman, yet she looks the most perfect choice for the part. Her facial expressions, dialogue delivery, body language are all spot on and evidently aim to show the determination of her character. The film's ending is a bit unsettling, but otherwise the film flows well and there are quite a few reasons to watch it.
A social drama tackling the sensitive issue of single parenthood; Mujhe Insaaf Chahiye had outstanding performances from Rekha and Rati Agnihotri. Surprisingly, Mithunda played a negative character in the peak of his career but his performance was also much appreciated by the critics and audience alike.
Rati goes to court screaming "Muhje Insaaf Chahiye" when she is impregnated by Mithun who doesnt want to marry her. Advocate Rekha fights her case even as she faces tough opponent Danny as Mithun's father cum defence lawyer. The courtroom scenes remain the film's highlight.
Mujhe Insaaf Chahiye asked some poignant questions regarding single motherhood as well as society's hypocrisy in blaming the female for an action in which the male is equally responsible. The same plot was reused in Kundan Shah's Kya Kehna (2000) with Preity Zinta as the main lead and even that movie worked well at the box office.

Malti(Rati Agnihotri) Was Followed, Loved And Subsequently Cheated By Suresh (Mithun Chakraborty). They Even Have Sexual Encounters Resulting Malti Becoming Pregnant. When This is Informed To Her Parents, They Refuse To Accept And Wants Her To Get Abortion. She Refuses And Approaches Lawyer Sakuntala(Rekha). Her Lawyer Files A Case in The Court. Defense Lawyer Daya Shankar Rai (Danny Danzongpa) Happens To Be Father Of Suresh. In Spite Of His Skills, Malti & Shakuntala Face Him For Mere Justice.
Acting Skills, Rekha is Brilliant And Better Than Others. Rati Agnihotri Does Well in Her Strong Complex Character. Mithun is Just Fine In A Grey Character. Danny Danzongpa, Shreeram Lagoo, Asrani & Ranjeeta(Cameo) Are Good.
Music is Very Average By Laxmikant Pyarelal. "Nahi Main Woh" By Asha Bhosle Is Best Of The Lot. Overall Watchable Flick. Must Watch For Rekha Fans.
