On Friday, ABC News correspondent Brian Ross dropped a bombshell report on “Good Morning America,” revealing that candidate Donald Trump had told him to make contact with the Russians — thus contradicting everything so far coming from the White House on the issue. The only problem — that was fake news. Seven hours later, the network updated their story to reflect that the order came from “President-elect” Trump and not candidate Trump — which is a pretty big difference. Stephen Colbert cut a mean Rachel Maddow on “The Late Show” last night, with a killer bit taking aim the MSNBC host’s dramatic Trump tax return tweet, and the ensuing anti-climactic one-sheet she revealed.
Fans of “The Rachel Maddow Show” know she loves to draw out a point, and has a certain staccato way of doing so. But when Maddow tweeted “Breaking: We’ve got Trump tax returns” on Tuesday night, viewers less savvy to her ways tuned in with wild abandon. When Maddow finally revealed that she had a single page from his 2005 returns showing he paid his taxes in full, people were naturally disappointed, to put it mildly.

Ubisoft will release two free expansions for The Division in 2017, both of which will focus on PvE content. Remember when Obama was elected?
For me as a black man, this was one of if not the ultimate “where were you at when such and such occurred” moment.
When O.J. was acquitted, I was in the conference room at Motown. The Rodney King verdict in my office and (this is not a joke) I let all the white people on my staff go home early.
I was in bed with a five-alarm migraine praying for death or sleep, whichever came first. It was sleep and when it came it seemed to last about a second before my phone woke me. I ignored the call but soon it became apparent that was the first of many. My phone played my “wrong nigga to fuck with” ringtone so often I dreamt Lapd had arrested me again.
I picked up determined to destroy whoever it was.
“Prince is dead.”

So the day has come! The 6th edition of the Bagri Foundation London Indian Film Festival has finally begun. And what a start! Cineworld Haymarket cinema, the venue for the occasion, received a host of celebrities including Konkona Sen Sharma, Vir Das, and the team of Umrika, director Prashant Nair, producer Swati Shetty and actors Suraj Sharma and Adil Hussain.
The evening culminated in the UK premiere of Umrika, followed by an exciting Q&A with the whole team conducted by “The Times” journalist Wendy Ide.
Umrika follows the steps of Rama in the search for his elder brother Udai, who left their small village to go to America. Sadly, migration is a huge issue nowadays and a central topic in many films, but Prashant Nair offers a different approach in his film. Son of a diplomat, he has lived in many places and has had the opportunity to know the stories of many immigrants.

Evolving out of a recent presentation and interviews with members of Film Independent, leading distribution strategist Peter Broderick has written an important set of guidelines for anyone seeking to negotiate a distribution deal for their movie. Shorter versions of this post have also run on IndieWire and Film Independent, and we’re happy to run the complete post here in three parts on Hope For Film. Read Part One Below. Part Two Friday. And Part Three Next Week.

Bollywood’s hottest playback singer, Arijit Singh, made his London debut at the Indigo Arena on Friday 29 August, as part of his ‘Tum Hi Ho’ UK tour. The 27-year-old performed to a sell-out crowd at the popular venue, located within The O2, and was literally setting the stage on fire with his enchanting voice.
Hosted by the BBC’s Anushka Arora, the concert kicked off with a special appearance from popular singer Aditi Singh Sharma, who set the mood right by singing some of her most loved songs, which included ‘Offo,’ ‘Raabta’ and ‘Dhoom Machale Dhoom.’ Aditi looked amazing on the night and her vocals were delivered at the perfect pitch. She managed to get the audiences to sing along with her and was also not afraid to shake a leg to some of her upbeat tracks. Aditi was a great surprise for the audiences and she was a professional throughout her brief appearance.
