Mehbooba was Shakti Samanta's 6th film with Rajesh Khanna, after Aradhna, Amar Prem Kati Patang, Anuraag & Ajnaabe. After Mehbooba they came together in, Anurodh, Awaaz & Alag Alag.
The tune of the song Parbat Ke Peeche was sampled from old Punjabi Boliyan song Sade Tan Vehre Vich by Surinder Kaur and Prakash Kaur.
This is one of the film that is responsible for Rajesh Kbanna"s downfall along Chaltapurza & Humshakal.
As the film had re incarnation theme Rajesh Khanna wanted Manna Dey's voice for previous birth and Kishore Kumar's voice for the present time.
This movie had everything - great songs, top stars - but was a boxoffice failure. The reason. The reincarnation theme focused more on how they died the previous birth and less about the new one. The relief came late and little.
