Anyone who grew up in the '90s knows who Tom Green is, and if you don't, well, you're about to thanks to Amazon, who have announced three new projects with the legendary comedian. Green was a staple on MTV from 1994 to 2000 with The Tom Green Show, and later transitioned into films. He starred in such offbeat comedies as Road Trip, Freddy Got Fingered, and Stealing Harvard, while also appearing in the reboot of Charlie's Angels alongside Cameron Diaz, Drew Barrymore, and Lucy Liu.
Per The Hollywood Reporter, Prime Video will debut three new projects with Green, all coming by the end of January. Not only is he the star of each one, but he also directed them as well, and serves as an executive producer with Rory Rosegarten through his Tom Green Productions Canada banner. First up on the list is This Is the Tom Green Documentary, which "will...

Our newest Best Supporting Actress Oscar-winner, Da’Vine Joy Randolph, looks to have her next project in view. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the star of “The Holdovers” will join a new musical from director Michel Gondry and producer Pharrell Williams. The project is said to be based on Williams’s youth in Virginia Beach in the 1970s. (I hope we get to watch his very tall hat grow.) IMDb has the title of the film listed as “Atlantis,” but this is unconfirmed by THR.
The screenplay is written by Martin Hynes, whose previous writing credits include “Toy Story 4” and “Stealing Harvard” (and also playing George Lucas in the legendary short “George Lucas in Love”), and Steven Levenson, whose musical credits include “Dear Evan Hanson” and “tick, tick…Boom.” Kelvin Harrison Jr., recently seen in “Chevalier” and “Elvis” is believed to be starring, and IMDb lists Andre 3000, Mary J. Summer isn’t over yet but HBO and its streaming arm Max are already moving on to fall. With its list of new releases for August 2023, Max is focusing on football! The American kind, mind you, not the actually footy kind.
August 2023 sees the release of two major football documentaries on HBO and Max. The first is the premiere of Hard Knocks on Aug. 10. The new season of long-running NFL training camp docuseries will center on the New York Jets, new employers of legendary quarterback Aaron Rodgers. On Aug. 23, Max will air the aptly named Bs High. The doc tells the stranger-than-fiction story of high school football team Bishop Sycamore, which pulled off one of the more notable sports scams you’re likely to ever hear about.
Not of the football variety but in keeping with the North American sports theme will be season 2 of Winning Time: The Rise of the Lakers Dynasty on Aug.

We might be entering the dog days of summer but Hulu isn’t slowing down. The streamer’s list of new releases for August 2023 is a pretty impressive collection of content.
The biggest Hulu original this month is season 3 of true crime comedy Only Murders in the Building on Aug. 8. This time around Meryl Streep and Paul Rudd are joining the already-stacked cast that features Steve Martin, Martin Short, and Selena Gomez. This season’s central murder appears to take place at a theater (outside the building) but I think we’ll let it slide.
That’s far from the only worthwhile original in August as Aug. 2 sees the premiere of the third and final season of superb comedy Reservation Dogs. That will be followed by South Korean sci-fi series Moving on Aug. 9, Solar Opposites season 4 on Aug. 14, and A Murder at the End of the World on Aug. 29. Of course,...

This article contains spoilers for WandaVision episode 5.
Last week’s WandaVision took a break from our regularly scheduled programming to check in with Monica Rambeau, Jimmy Woo, and Darcy Lewis as they studied the Westview Anomaly. It provided a much-needed dose of explanations and exposition. This week, however, WandaVision thrusts us right back into the sitcom world of Wanda Maximoff’s making.
Sure, the cracks in Wanda’s facade are beginning to show a little more consistently. But even among Agnes’s fourth wall breaking, Norm’s mortal terror, and Vision’s sleuthing, episode 5 contains a truly impressive amount of sitcom homages. Let’s break them all down here.
Family Ties
It’s well-established at this point that each episode of WandaVision uses one sitcom of a particular era as a stylistic jumping off point. Episodes one through three cribbed from The Dick Van Dyke Show, Bewitched, and The Brady Bunch,...

Tom Green may have not been crowned the official winner of Celebrity Big Brother on Wednesday night, but he still managed to make it through 24 days of the 29 day shoot and outlast the likes of Ryan Lochte, Joey Lawrence, Kato Kaelin and the WWE’s Natalie Eva Marie. At the end, he was voted “America’s...

Barbershop 3? What will they think of next? Twelve years ago, Tim Story took us to a modest hair-cutting place and built a tiny low budget franchise. Barbershop was just a quiet throwaway release in 2002, opening in over 700 less theaters than the weekend.s other release, Stealing Harvard. $75 million later, a movie series was born. And just like that, Barbershop has come roaring back to life. Deadline reports that Ice Cube will sign a mid-seven figure deal to return to the .shop, in the hopes of also re-recruiting Cedric the Entertainer and Queen Latifah. It.s Crisis On Infinite Barbershops! Deadline notes that the newly-resuscitated MGM is like every other studio in that they.ve gone franchise crazy, working on an animated Addams Family, revisiting Poltergeist, continuing the James Bond and Hobbit stories and even jump-starting the Hot Tub Time Machine once more. They appear to have a kindred spirit in...

Fame is a fleeting fox that outruns most. Sometimes, notoriety outshines its own spotlight. Whether through the casting couch or blood, sweat and tears, the occasional performer will squeak through to the other side and achieve a modicum of accolades. Some are worthwhile, while others are unbearable. We all have that irritating nitpick of an actor who occasional, and suddenly, pops up in a movie just when the getting is good, and it swerves the car completely off the road. "Who invited this guy?" we ask ourselves, hoping s/he gets killed off before we have to get up out of our seat and ask for our money back.
It's a mild irritation, all things considered.
And then there's that very special group of actors who simply don't belong in movies at all. Yet there they are, begging us to watch them, vying for our attention before they are quickly...

- Martin Hynes likes to steals things. Well, he likes to writes screenplays about people who steal things. A few years ago Hynes wrote a little screenplay called "Stealing Stanford," in which a mom and dad duo take up a life of crime in order to pay for their daughter's ivy league education. Sound familiar? In 2002 it was re-written into that memorable pic Stealing Harvard, featuring the effervescent Tom Green. But now Hynes has returned to the topic of theft with his latest feature, The Go-Getter, starring Lou Taylor Pucci (Thumbsucker), Zooey Deschanel and Jena Malone. The indie pic premiered at Sundance in 2007, then made its way to Cannes and is finally opening to limited release this weekend. In Hynes' admittedly semi-autobiographical tale (he once spent a year on the road), 19-year-old Mercer (Pucci) steals a station wagon from a car wash and leaves his hometown of Eugene, Oregon, on
