Magician and fan Richard Cadell took over the franchise when Matthew Corbett decided to stand down in 1999. TV shows were still made well into the 21st century with Richard as the human host. Although it is unclear if the show is still in production, the show is still regularly repeated on Childrens ITV in the UK as of 2022. However Sooty and the other characters still regularly perform shows at provincial theaters in the UK, usually during school holidays and still draw good audiences numbers.
