Hulk Hogan, Rodney Anoai, Ed Leslie, Bret Hart, and Jimmy Hart in WrestleMania IX (1993)

Trivia

WrestleMania IX

Edit
Matt Osborne stated in a radio interview that originally Doink the Clown was supposed to feud with Hulk Hogan leading up to a match at WrestleMania IX, but Hogan turned down the idea.
The Tag Team Championship match was originally booked to be the blow-off to the feud between Money Inc. (Ted DiBiase and Irwin R. Schyster (Mike Rotunda)) and the Nasty Boys (Brian Knobbs (Brian Yandrisovitz) and Jerry Sags), with the Nastys winning the titles. But, Knobbs and Sags were taken off the card and replaced by Hulk Hogan and Brutus Beefcake.
Lex Luger said he was so relaxed backstage before his WrestleMania debut against Mr. Perfect, knowing Perfect's ability to lead his opponent through a match. Thirty seconds into their bout, Perfect appeared to be panicked, telling Luger he was "blanking out" and had forgotten what they were supposed to do. Lex then had to call the match on the fly, trying to remember bits and pieces of what they had discussed earlier. While some speculated that Perfect was pulling a rib, Lex believed it may have been due to Perfect's suspected excessive drug use in the hours leading up to the pay-per-view that caused Perfect to forget his spots. Lex said that if it was a rib, then Perfect deserved a Golden Globe for his acting performance, because Perfect seemed so sincere, apologizing profusely backstage afterwards.
While this wasn't publicly known at the time, Yokozuna (Rodney Anoai) was actually Samoan-American (born in San Francisco, California) and not Japanese, making the crowd's brief "USA!" chant during his match against acknowledged Canadian Bret Hart seem even more awkward in hindsight.
Bret Hart claims that his match with Yokozuna at WrestleMania IX was the best match Yokozuna ever had. Bret also stated he was disappointed at Yokozuna for getting tired and deciding to end the match prematurely, dropping 5 minutes worth of action they had rehearsed, leading up to the finish.
