Paul Newman, Tom Hanks, Jude Law, and Tyler Hoechlin in Les sentiers de la perdition (2002)

FAQ

Les sentiers de la perdition

FAQ

Tom Hanks stars as a betrayed mob assassin whom hits the road with his son (Tyler Hoechlin) as he seeks to avenge his wife and youngest son whom were murdered by the arrogant son (Daniel Craig) of his boss (Paul Newman).

Tom Hanks wore a bit of makeup for this film -- most notably a prosthetic nose -- to make his character appear more gangster-like.

Not quite. Max Allan Collins was partially inspired by the Baby Cart Assassin film/manga series (a.k.a. Lone Wolf and Cub), but he based his story more-or-less directly on real events involving Irish gangster John Looney, federal lawman Eliot Ness and Chicago mobsters Al Capone and Frank Nitti. There was a real-life lieutenant of Looney who was betrayed by his superior.
