North India Show !!!

I belong to north UP and this movie is a true mirror showing culture of north UP to the rest of India. But this is not only one reason that I am praising this movie. This movie is really outstanding in every aspect...This cult classic is a good lesson to now a days bhojpuri dialect movies which are showing only vulgarity. This movie touches every cultural aspect of north india specially rural areas. Once my mother told that how this movie runs continuously for five years in a cinema theatre in Allahabad.

Sachin once again rocks as Chandan after "geet gaata chal" & "ankhiyon ke jharokhon se"...being a Mumbai boy, yet seems absolutely from north UP....actress Sadhna originally belongs to Varanasi and this movie shooted in Jaunpur...so she was best suited as Gunja and she did well enough...rest of the characters did justice to their roles.

And music...exceptionally brilliant...all songs are cult classic now...specially "kaun disha me"...so overall a must watch movie for every one and in my top five favourite movie...a big salute to rajshee...

Excellent

Review By Kamal K

Wow, how good was this movie, i am just speechless. That time most of the movie can be watched with family, and they contain no vulgarity . This was a great love story between Gunja and Chandan. The characters and songs were fabulous. If you are thinking that this is an old age movie which will fail to entertain you, then you're totally wrong, with entertainment it teaches what family is and its important.

Just excellent!!!

Greatest movie that Rajshri production has ever produced. Direction is amazing, acting is superb, story is excellent. All actors seem natural. You will be surprised by the dialogue, locations, if you have ever lived in or seen a north Indian village.

You will find this movie beyond your expectation. Emotion, drama, comedy and many other genre are rightly mixed. Its about love, tradition, sacrifice. The music is awesome. Songs are exceptional. No one can watch it just once.

When you start the movie, you will say that this movie should never end. Especially the first half, totally fun.

A must watch movie!

one of the best movie

I always knew that Hum Aap ke hai kaun is remake of Nadiya ke Paar but never got a chance to see this movie. Having seen both of these movies, Nadiya ke paar is much better. The plot is better and characters justify their role very well. I really appreciate Rajshree production's way of showing Indian culture and tradition. If you are from Northern India then you can relate to this movie even more. I certainly had fun watching it and it's going to be in top 10 bollywood movies list of all time.

I don't know what happened to characters in this movie. For some reason, they did not click in other movies, but if I were to judge them solely based on this movie, they are super starts.

A masterpice of a movie - just two and half hours of pure fun and enjoyment.

Director Bimal Roy in Do Bigha Zamin gave a vivid picture of poverty , hardship and desperation in rural India and you will see the happiness, family enjoyment and prosperity in Nadiya ke Paar. Director Govinda Moonis created a masterpiece of a film in Nadiya Ke Paar. The scenes from a family household in rural India, their daily chores, their lives in the village, the wedding ceremony, the holi festival have been masterfully picturised in this family tale so well that you would not like to miss a minute of this grandiose display of filmmaking. I have seen to more movies with the same story line, B.R. Chopra's Gumrah and more recent Hum Apko Hain Kaun but out of the three Nadiya is the best of all three. While the other two are more story oriented, Nadiya Ke Paar is a story of the Indian village life. The actors Sachin and Sadhana Singh gave a superb performance in their respective roles along with all the other major players in the movie. The gradual evolution of love between Gunja ( Sadhana Singh ) and Chandan ( Sachin ) from a stormy first encounter on the river bank is just so wonderful to watch. The music is enchanting specially the one in the bullock cart and the holi song and dance. I have seen this movie a few times and will likely see it many more times in future. Once you start seeing this movie you cannot stop. This is not a movie but the story of Indian village life where the acting, the dialogues, the scenes and music keeps you glued to the screen hoping it never ends.

All time great

Nadiya ke paar is a phenomenon. A true reflection of rural India in those times & it was brilliant time for sure. Remembering grandpa days. People used to come in bullock cart to see this movie. It was a huge huge hit. The music & cast was superb. Rajshri's pinnacle I guess. HAHK is a poor copy. They don't make movies like this anymore.

OUTSTANDING

One of the greatest movies in Indian film history.

I could have given more than 10 star if there is a way out.

All actors are superb but GUNJA was admired most and first crush of so many guys. Sadhna singh was so real and did platinum standard acting. No over acting .... as real as gold.

a sweet family drama......

"Nadiya Ke Paar" remains one of the most memorable family dramas by Rajshree Productions, a banner known for making clean, light-hearted family movies. The film was remade as "Hum Aapke Hain Kaun" in 90s which made a historic success. Set in the rural backdrop of India, the film depicts family values and love between two brothers. The film feels like a sweet breeze of air at times for its natural setting of a village with the characters speaking local dialect. Just watch this film to see how well "Hum Aapke Hain Kaun" has burrowed some of the best moments of "Nadiya Ke Paar," and just improvised and elaborated the sequences. Perhaps this makes "HAHK" one of the most successful movies despite a remake. The realistic setting, story, emotions, and a lovely music and songs by Ravindra Jain make "Nadiya Ke Paar" a treat to watch despite certain flaws in the movie such as a bit of its slow pace. Besides, the film at times slopes from the local dialect to Hindi which loses the spontaneity of the setting. Sachin feels a bit miscast (he has played such roles far too many) and other characters like Inder Thakur, Mitali, and Sadhana Singh add freshness to the screen.

A movie with a final twist

This movie is like a smooth road with a small bumper. Acting is good but climax is worth the wait. Female main lead is strong she stands up for her love and expresses it . A good lazy autumn watch .

The True Love❤

The movie has a quite simple story with some twists in the end but the main highlight is the village culture👌 shown in the movie which is without any type of masala, and the song are so beautiful😍, which are independent of time, and they make a perfect match with the movie and the performances of leading starcasts are brilliant. The moral of the movie depicts what love is.

In Love since childhood

I saw this movie for the first time when i was around 7 or 8 years old, ever since I have been in love of this movie. Made on the Eastern UP rural background, this sweet and innocent love story is reminiscent with India of 1980s days. Sachin and Sadhna would have never thought that this movie will be so much popular and be loved by all. Filled with lovely folk songs and story line this movie is extremely simple, sweet and loving. I cant recall how many times have i seen this movie. An inspiration for many other movies including the biggest hit of Bollywood "Hum Aapke hain kaun". Movie stars some of the finest and most loved actors of bollywood. Sachin and Sadhna in lead roles have done great justice to the movie.

Absolutely Cult Classic ; Still Loved by 3 different Generations!

As Sachin Tendulkar is loved by 3 different generations ; Sachin Pilgaonkar and Sadhana SIngh's "Nadiyan ke Paar" is definitely Loved by my Grandfather, Father as well as My generation's peoples. It's been 42 long Years in 2024 ; still I'm in love with this movie from every aspects. The Cinematography of Rural India in 80s' with conservative mindsets among villagers were crystal clear in this movie which gives us realism about that contemporary India. You will definitely fall in Love with Gunja + Chandan's Jodi because of their innocence and beautiful portrayal of their characters on screen. I'm still amazed to know that it was the debut movie of 'Sadhna Singh'. I mean the way she played her role as a beautiful village girl was definitely appealing to our eyes and we fell in love with her character instantaneously.

The runtime of this movie is around 2hr30Min which is edited pretty well I'll say, because at that time period filmmakers doesn't care much about runtimes and average runtimes of such stories could have been upto 3hrs. But here's a little negative point that they rushed the climax very fast. They could have taken more 2-3Min to showcase the entire dilemma and emotions of each characters, that could have been more feel good factors for the today's audiences. But anyway! Audiences of that era accepted it and made it an all time cult classic with blockbuster in numbers. Songs of this movie are still feel refreshing in my generation especially 'Kaun disha mein leke Chala' & 'Jogi Ji Waah' are still in my Car Music playlist.

Overall a beautiful Cinema with hell lot of emotions. I was literally crying while watching this movie. Definitely gonna recommend this to everyone as it's a Family Friendly movie with no vulgarity like today's time. 9 Out of 10 Stars will be the rating from my side for it.. It's a Must Watch Movie for sure!

Original Hum Aap Ke Hein Kaun ...great direction , script ... coming from 1980s this movie was way too natural without the usual 80s OTT drama..

A feast for the eyes!

One of the best movies capturing the true essence of East UP, the region I belong to. I wish I could go back in time when people were so innocent and real. The village scenes, the dialogues, and the people are so mesmerizing. The simplicity of this movie will bind you till the end. Sachin and Sadhna played their roles really well. The music and songs by Ravindra Jain are treat to listen. You won't find anything unrealistic or heroic in this movie, it's just as real as it gets. Just go and watch this movie, you'll fall in love with its simplicity!
