Wens Alors!

To date ,it's Mr Wens's last case on the silver screen although MTV works were made afterward. This is a poor swansong ,for it never finds its way, always hesitating between thriller and comedy. The presence of Jacqueline Maillan, one of the best French stage actresses ,tips the scale in favor of the latter.

The plot :a girl was kidnapped and it seems that Mrs Maillan's guests are the abductors.A mysterious man (Meurisse) was to visit her on Xmas day,but they are six when they come for the Christmas Réveillon.

One sees little here of the unqualified enthusiasm that accompanied Mr Wens in his career through such works as "Le Dernier Des Six" or "L'Assassin Habite au 21".He was then played by Pierre Fresnay. He was also played by Frank Villard ,and neither him nor Philippe Nicaud here could replace him successfully.
