Sure, featuring a single actor as more than one character in your movie smells a bit like a gimmick—but at the end of the day, it’s an efficient and often effective means of showcasing the versatility of a performer. And that can hardly be faulted. We caught a whiff of it with Split this year, though McAvoy might be disqualified for being a Legion of One rather than a cast with a shared face. Personally, I had no idea the trend cast such a wide-reaching historical net — I’d stupidly assumed it was something made possible by the advent of modern makeup and digital tech. Again, stupidly.

Death is but the next great adventure for Broadway's A Gentleman's Guide To Love And Murder.BroadwayWorld learned this evening that the Tony Award-winning Best Musical will play its final performance on the Great White Way on Sunday, January 17, 2016. Producer Joey Parnes announced the news today. The musical's record-breaking run at the Walter Kerr Theatre will have played nearly 1,000 performances on Broadway, and its Tony Award-winning star, Jefferson Mays, will have died more than 6,000 deaths as various members of the illfated D'Ysquith family.

Kevin Bacon will be channeling Jimmy Stewart in a stage version of the classic crime story “Rear Window” to play this fall at Connecticut’s Hartford Stage. Tony winner Darko Tresnjak (“A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder”) will direct the production, which will run from October 22-November 15. Keith Reddin adapted the play from Cornwell Woolrich’s short story, which was also the basis for Alfred Hitchcock’s classic 1954 thriller starring Stewart as a man confined to his big-city apartment who thinks he may have witnessed a murder by his cross-the-courtyard neighbor. Hip-hop entrepreneur Russell Simmons is developing a new stage musical called “The Scenario,” Simmons’ Def Pictures announced Thursday. It was announced today that two-time Olivier Award nominee Scarlett Strallen will take over the role of 'Sibella' in A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder, which won the 2014 Tony Award for Best Musical, beginning Tuesday, February 10, 2015. Her predecessor Lisa O'Hare exits the production on February 8, 2015 after originating the role at Hartford Stage, then in San Diego at The Old Globe, and finally on Broadway at The Walter Kerr Theatre.

Bryce Pinkham, who is currently starring in 2014's Tony Award Winner for Best Musical A Gentleman's Guide To Love And Murder, has even more then performing at the Walter Kerr Theatre eight times a week to think about. Pinkham is the co-founder of an organization called Zara Aina meaning 'Share Life' which brings theatre to at-risk children in Madagascar. The reigning Tony Award-winning Best Musical, A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder, will welcome a new Monty Navarro when Tony Award nominee Bryce Pinkham takes a temporary leave of absence to co-star in the limited Broadway enagement of The Heidi Chronicles. Assuming the role of Monty beginning on Tuesday, January 20 will be original ensemble member and Monty understudy Jeff Kready, whose other Broadway credits include Billy Elliot The Musical and the revivals of Sunday in the Park with George and Les Miserables.
