According to the director, the story is the real love story of his own mom and dad, which inspired him to make the movie on the first place.
During the film, the director Arjun Sablok and Saif Ali Khan had several arguments over the size of Saif's role. Saif insisted on more scenes be added and also kept insisting a song be added for him.
Hrithik Roshan and Saif Ali Khan acted together for the first time. 20 years later, they've worked together in the Hindi remake of Vikram Vedha in 2022.
The title of the film is based on the song Na Tum Jaano Na Hum from Kaho Na Pyar Hai 2000, which is the debut film of Hrithik Roshan.
Esha Deol's sister Ahana makes an small appearance in the film.
