How film lyricist Anand Bakshi won over National Poet Pradeep
Film lyricist Anand Bakshi is regarded as the most successful Indian film lyricist having written 4000 songs in a career ranging 45 years. A look at his work reveals his mastery over his art. Remember Chingari Koi Bhadke....(Amar Prem), Hum Tum Ek Kamre Mein Bandh Ho...(Bobby), Teri Pehli Nazar Ko Salaam... (Ek Duje Ke Liye), Tujhe Dekha To...(Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge) etc.

Anand Bakshi was a master of penning lyrics, within minutes, he could write to the tunes of music directors and in the process many a times he would cram mindless words like Dum Maro Dum...., Achcha To Hum Chalte Hain....Mere Jeevan Sathi Pyar Kiye Ja... etc incidentally the songs would prove hit.

One such song that he set to the tune of Laxmikant-Pyarelal was for the movie Amir Garib (1974) staring Dev Anand and Hema Malani. The song was Baith Ja Baith Gayi, Khadi Ho Ja Khadi...
