The clip, shared by Gunn on Threads, features a close-up shot of David Corenswet's Man of Steel soaring through the air faster than a speeding bullet. In 2024, DC Comics launched its first wave of DC Compact Comics – and now it has released the second batch of Compact titles. As announced by DC, fifteen new DC Compact Comics have been announced, adding to the growing collection of available books.

From All-Star Superman to Watchmen, this line of comics features reprints of some of DC's most iconic stories in convenient 5.5" x 8.5" sized trades. DC Compact Comics also only go for $9.99, cheaper than most traditional trade paperbacks and graphic novels. Because of this, DC Compact Comics have seen great success, and they make great introductory books for new comic readers.

Comic book fans are always trying to pinpoint what exactly separates Marvel Comics and its perennial rival DC Comics, and I think the difference was summed up in a freshly released issue of The Amazing Spider-Man, in which Spidey realizes even the world's greatest heroes will someday be forgotten by history, a philosophy that stands in stark contrast to DC lore.

James Gunn has said that there will be select parts of the Dceu that will be canon in his Dcu. The director took over at the tail end of the Dceu, hoping to soft reboot the universe. However, he said that John Cena, Viola Davis and a few other characters will continue to play their roles as they are, while also referencing some events from the Dceu in the new Dcu.

James Gunn was in charge of the Dcu when Shazam: Fury of the Gods came out, which saw the character share a space with Emilia Harcourt, and John Economos, one of whom has already been confirmed to be canon in the MCU. Given that both these characters were in Peacemaker Season 1, which will be canon in the Dcu, it is a possibility that Zachary Levi might have a space in the rebooted franchise.

David Corenswet's Dcu Superman stars in a sweet homage to the Man of Steel's earliest cartoons and James Gunn's upcoming Superman movie. Gunn's Superman takes inspiration from storylines such as Kingdom Come and All-Star Superman, as well as the Man of Steel's earliest comic book appearances. The teaser of James Gunn and David Corenswet’s Superman (2025) was dropped a couple of weeks ago and let’s just say the doubts DC fans had about this new era vanished like a villain under Superman’s heat vision. Currently, the teaser has a whopping 1.1 million likes to its name. Needless to say, James Gunn came, he saw, he conquered. Now all we need to do is wait for July of this year before we can pass any solid judgments about the upcoming film.

Tokyo Comic-Con took place over the weekend, and while the event was light on major reveals, an official theatre standee for James Gunn's Superman was spotted as part of a display on the convention floor.

James Gunn's Dcu will have Superman, Batman, Green Lantern, The Authority, and Swamp Thing, and another name joining the roster is Krypto, the Superdog. Created by writer Otto Binder and artist Curt Swan, Krytpo first appeared in Adventure Comics #210 in March 1955 in a Superboy story. Ever since the character's introduction, he has been a fan-favorite Superman supporting character. He even led his own animated series, Krypto the Superdog. The character was recently voiced by Dwayne Johnson in DC's League of Super-Pets.

Krypto will now make the leap to live-action, as legendary comic writer Mark Waid has seemingly confirmed. We recently shared a photo of a Superman cast and crew wrap gift featuring the Man of Tomorrow, Clark Kent, Lois Lane, and Lex Luthor. While not "official" artwork, it was created by someone involved in the movie and is thereby likely a good indication of what we'll see on screen.

Today, we see the rest of the character designs and that means getting a first glimpse at Hawkgirl's wings, Metamorpho, and Eve Teschmacher's colourful pink attire. Also pictured are Jimmy Olsen and The Engineer, two characters we spotted on set.

The fact their costumes match what we saw in those photos all but confirms this artwork is based on official material the crew member has seen while working on Superman.

Anthony Carrigan's Metamorpho was the only Justice League International member we didn't get to see on set, but it's clear James Gunn is sticking to the comic books here.

Although updates have slowed down since James Gunn's Superman wrapped filming more than a month ago, one DC comic book writer just came out of left field to drop an exciting bit of news. DC Studios co-ceo and Superman director James Gunn has once again shared a few Dcu updates on his social media accounts. However, the Shazam! Fury of the Gods fans among you may be disappointed.

Asked whether that movie is Dcu canon based on previous comments he's made, Gunn reiterated, "[You] don't need to be confused. It's not canon. I don't know now or then what Harcourt or Economos have to do with the Justice Society."

The filmmaker was never happy about the characters being thrown into projects like Shazam! Fury of the Gods and Black Adam, so we're not exactly shocked he plans to now ignore those scenes. 

Gunn was also asked whether Creature Commandos or Superman should be considered an introduction to the new Dcu, prompting him to respond, "I think both of them as individual stories that are a part of an overall universe. They both exist for their own sake.

Appearing at the Jason Aaron: In the Spotlight panel during Dragon Con 2024, the writer teased a little of whats to come in Absolute Superman: I havent said this before, but theres no Lex Luthor in this arc. Its not Superman vs Lex.

While Aaron didnt reveal who the villain Superman will be fighting is, he did tease it was a new take on an established DC character: The main villain he fights isa villain we dont normally equate with Superman, Aaron continued, explaining that the mysterious new villain will be completely revamped for the Absolute line.

Henry Cavill, Tyler Hoechlin, and Tom Welling's Men of Steel join forces in new DC artwork as they each get iconic versions of the Superman costumes from the comics. Over the last few decades, multiple actors have played Superman in live-action both on the small and big screens. As the Man of Steel has been reimagined time after time for TV and film, the DC icon has also had his suit redesigned in live-action, leading to a selection of Superman costumes that have appeared on-screen.

However, while there have been many Supermen in live-action, most of them have only had a handful of versions of the Kryptonian hero's comic book suit.
