Yet another poor excuse for sloppy 1970's hippies to get nekked and simulate fornication. My eyes still hurt from the 3D "effects" (I've seen better in a Three Stooges short). An abomination, especially since most of the "performers" could use a suntan and a few sessions on a StairMaster. It's bad enough to make your bowels loosen. A couple of the scenes look like Penthouse Forum letters in visual form, only really white trashy and with no budget. This film makes Caligula look like Citizen Kane.
Prison Girls (1972)
*** (out of 4)
Obviously influenced by the success of films like THE STUDENT NURSES, this rather sleazy exploitation picture has six females getting a weekend furlong out of prison so that they can reconnect with their outside lives before getting released for good in a couple months. For the male viewer's pleasure, all of the women in end in countless sex scenes. PRISON GIRLS is without question one of the wildest exploitation pictures I've ever seen. Yes, the story is stupid, the acting horrid and the filmmaking questionable but there's no question that director Tom DeSimone has gone all out and really delivered one of the most nudity-filled films you're ever going to see. In fact, there's so much nudity here that it really does seem like you're watching a XXX movie with just the hardcore stuff cut out. Even for a sexploitation picture this here is quite dirty because there's very few scenes where some sort of nudity isn't on screen. This is certainly a great thing for those male viewers watching. It also doesn't hurt that the majority of the girls are all extremely good looking and unlike other pictures, we're not just getting five or six women here but instead there are nearly two dozen that take their clothes off. This includes the final "segment" where Uschi Digard plays a woman having sex with her fugitive boyfriend. If you're a fan of these types of movies then you know what Digard brings to the screen. The film also has perhaps the greatest shower scene in shower scene history. All sorts of naked women appear to really be going at it because you'll notice all the bruises and marks that the "action" is leaving on them as the scene plays out. There's also a memorable biker gang/rape sequence, which is just downright bizarre to say the least. PRISON GIRLS isn't a masterpiece by any stretch of the imagination but if you're a fan of sexploitation then it's a must see.

Contrary to dominant standards, I and a millions of other men do enjoy, ahem, "natural" looking women in skin flicks. It is rather stimulating when today's generic models and actresses are so plucked, waxed, and buffed they look like store mannequins.
The reason I could give Prison Girls two stars is the copious amount of nudity throughout. Otherwise the movie is dreadfully tedious.
Prison Girls hearkens back to the time in which skin flicks had to be "educational" to pass the censor's muster. Thus, the sex therapy subplot is a weak attempt at social redemption.
The acting is amateur at best. The body painting artist is a wee bit funny. He makes one good Jewish joke.
The sex scenes are simulated flippy-floppy that cuts out before anything too heavy happens.
There is one harrowing rape scene with one of the girls and a motorcycle gang that, though comically rendered, might upset some viewers.
And yes, the music is terrible.
With the ready and free availability of more vintage pornography on the Internet than you can shake a stick it, Prison Girls is probably not worth your while, unless you're a fanatic for softcore b-movies.

This is really rooted in the early 70's. Not exactly a WIP movie, it starts out in a prison with the obligatory shower/fight scene. But the movie is mainly an excuse for T&A shots, and there are plenty of those. A group of prisoners are set for a 2 day furlough, and the movie follows them as they set out to take it. One who seemed to have problems with her husband is allowed to use an apartment of a prison counselor, for a sexual rendezvous. The counselor tells here sometime doing something 'abnormal' is the solution. One of them meets up with her boyfriend, which then winds up with a biker gang and sexual assault. Another meets her boyfriend at his place, while he is doing body paint on nude models. And another meets her boyfriend, who seems to have gotten himself into trouble due to a bank job. Most of the woman do not seem to be artificially 'enhanced' and there is plenty of full frontal for the woman. One of the men has those rather weird sideburns that was popular for awhile in the early 70's. Most of the woman are sporting tan-lines that would be unlikely to have gotten while in prison. There is not the violence nor the sadism that is often the trademark of WIP films of that era. For the movie I streamed, the print quality was poor in portions, and one segment has some strange green shadows. Released in 3D, and narrow screen. I did not view it in 3D, but those spots it would have been used were obvious.
This movie essentially begins with a shower scene--which is almost obligatory for women-in-prison (WIP) films-that quickly escalates into an all-female brawl. However, upon being taken to the warden they discover that their infraction of the rules has in no way jeopardized their weekend furlough which is typically granted to inmates who have only a few months remaining on their sentence. The reason behind the furlough is to see whether these women can adapt to civilian life upon being released. Anyway, having been locked up for a great while these 6 women immediately gravitate to the men they left behind. It's at this point that the movie focuses on the sexual circumstances each of these women encounter. For example, the first scenario involves a female prisoner named "Kay Rivers" (Jacqueline Giroux) who was a prostitute prior to her incarceration and returns to her pimp boyfriend, "Mike" (Jason Williams). Unfortunately, when she gets there she discovers that Mike has adapted quite well without her and has a couple of other young ladies as competitors for his affections as well. That being the case, Kay realizes that she has to do something about the situation and she ends up doing exactly that. The next scenario involves a woman known simply as "Frank's wife" (Barbara Mills) who was frigid prior to entering prison and believes that if she can have an orgasm with her husband that it will solve all of their marital problems. As might be expected the scenes involving the other prisoners have their own individual characteristics as well. In any case, this movie was plagued by its low-budget nature which resulted in a very shallow plot, sub-standard acting and a poorly written script. As a matter of fact, about the only thing going for this movie was the presence of a couple of fairly attractive actresses most notably Uschi Digard (as "Cindy") and to a lesser extent the aforementioned Barbara Mills. All things considered then I rate this movie as below average.

- TriviaShot in Optovision, a dual camera system in which two 16 mm frames (left/above and right/below) were printed onto 35 mm frames, creating a 3D image. The camera shutters were not interlocked, which accounts for the film's "soft" texture when viewed in 2D.
- Alternate versions3D prints lack the scene in which Gertie and Toni have a threesome with Freddy. Although earlier DVD presentations of the film include this scene, Kino Lorber's 3D Blu-ray and DVD present it separately among the special features.
