The film was planned with Sanjay Dutt. Due to his severe drug addiction, the producer Amarjeet ( a family member of Dutt) dropped him from the film.
Three movies on the exact same theme were released in 1984-85. Each starred a star son. Sunny with Sunny Deol, Dharmendra, Sharmila, Waheeda Rehman and Amrita Singh. Zameen Aasman with Sunjay Dutt, Shashi Kapoor, Rekha, Raakhee and Anita Raj. Anand aur Anand with Suneil Anand, Dev Anand, Smita Patil, Raakhee and Natasha. Only Sunny was a Hit. The others flopped.
Dharmendra plays father to Sunny Deol but they did not share any scenes.
Sunny Deol and Amrita Singh teamed together for the second time after their Debut hit Betaab 1983, this also remains second film of both the actors.
