Clumsy drama doesn't negate the remarkable b&w look of this film. There is a credible authority in this production.
In Marine Battleground Jock Mahoney plays a war correspondent who finds an
intriguing story from Nurse Pat Yi. She's a dedicated anti-communist and Mahoney gets the whole story.
Back during the Korean War Ni's whole family iskilled by the invading north. The Koreans in this Marine company make her a mascot and she tells of their times together the good and the bad right up to when Koreans made a last ditch stand. very few come away from this battle.
This was a sincere effort. Sadly between combat scenes it's dull as dishwater. The film could have used better direction.
For war film fans only.
