Vinod Khanna won the Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actor for this film.
The title music of the film Haath Ki Safai was sampled from Henry Mancini's "The Theif Who Came For Dinner". It was later used in Rafoo Chakkar's title music.The music was also used in a chase scene in Shankar Shambu. Then used later on as background music in Katilon Ke Katil.
Nandlala Gopala Daya Karke" in SADHU AUR SHAITAAN (1968) and "Upar Wale Teri Duniya Mein" in HAATH KI SAFAAI (1974) sound the same.
Smif-N-Wessun feat. Buckshot song "City Of Godz (Ciudad De Dios)" sampled the song "Wada Karle Sajana".
Chutney singer Hitman song "Independant Ladies" sampled the song "Tu Kya Jaane".
