Synopsis

  • Seaside area 1920. The Far East is occupied by fascists. The Red Army detachments hold an all-round defense. On the right flank one of the regiments, incited by alarmists and instigators, get out of control and leave positions. A young commissar (V.Zaitsev) is trying to stop him, but the regiment is stepping back to the Amur hoping to ferry over it. The commissar, all alone, heads for the front headquarters, where he gets a task to bring back the regiment at any price, provided that he is helped by only one steamer of an Ussurian fleet. Having met the steamer crew and its fearless captain (B.Khimichev), they altogether set about performing a difficult task. A prototype for the commissar is the author himself A. Fadeev
