This is a complicated plot and deals with crime, punishment, morality and duty. It's principal twist is totally contrived, but there have been much worse examples right down to the present.
The songs did not really catch up. It is also a sort of Generational jump with beloved Dadamoni Ashok Kumar moving on to roles suitable for his age and Raj Kumar and Feroze Khan coming into their own.
As with the times a lot of it appears misogynistic now. The trope of the unwed pregnant mother killing herself or at least being ostracized by the society was extremely common (went on at least up to Preity Zinta starter Kya Kehna), and forms the fulcrum of the movie.

Movie i have to say to has it's own taste and category. A part from the performance the movie gives the very different feeling when you watch this move. Each and every seconds of movie is full of film.

- TriviaThe film was a turning point for Feroz Khan. Despite being a negative role, Feroz Khan ended up taking credit for the films success. Feroz Khan stole the show. This did not sit well with Raaj Kumar. Raaj Kumar and Feroz would clash while filming the movie. During the filming of a scene, Raaj Kumar had his back to the camera and was doing a scene with Feroz who was facing the camera. Raaj Kumar had to give a cue to Feroz while saying his dialogue . But while filming the scene Raaj Kumar was not looking at Feroz to give the cue, but looking sideways talking and looking at the wall. This was done so Feroz would mess up his lines and look bad in front of the director. After that Raaj Kumar would constantly give advice to Feroz on how to do his scene. Feroz finally told off Raaj Kumar and told him to mind his own acting and let him do his own his way.
