Danish actress Trine Dyrholm (Beginnings, The Girl With the Needle, The Celebration, Poison) has made a reputation for herself as someone who always gives her all and brings multiple layers to her portrayals.
To Series Mania in Lille, France, which kicks off on Friday, she is bringing her new series The Danish Woman, which is getting its world premiere in the festival’s International Panorama section on Sunday.
Dyrholm stars as Ditte Jensen, who retires from the Danish Secret Service to live a quiet life in Reykjavik, Iceland. But she can’t stop being the elite soldier and warrior she was trained to be. In her new surroundings, she therefore decides to help her neighbors.
International sales for the six-episode series from director Benedikt Erlingsson (Woman at War, Of Horses and Men) are being handled by The Party Film Sales.

What is the role that first comes to mind when you think of Tim Roth? Is it the clumsy bellboy from Four Rooms? The wailing criminal who gets shot in Reservoir Dogs? Or is it the psychology wiz in Lie to Me? The excellent British actor has played a litany of noteworthy characters, but top among them is not likely to be his role in Tim Burton's remake of Planet of the Apes. Regardless, his performance as General Thade gave him the opportunity to appear on-screen with Charlton Heston, a truly bittersweet experience considering it featured the controversial actor in one of his last roles.
Per The Hollywood Reporter, Roth was at the 15th edition of the Luxembourg City Film Festival this week, where he offered a masterclass and also presented his latest feature film, Poison, a romantic drama he co-stars with Trine Dyrholm. The actor, who rose to...

Luxembourgish actress, director, producer and TV host Désirée Nosbusch’s (Bad Banks) first fiction feature film as a director, Poison, starring British actor Tim Roth and Denmark’s Trine Dyrholm, finally premiered in her homeland. The 15th edition of the Luxembourg City Film Festival this week screened the drama, adapted from the play Gif by the Dutch author Lot Vekemans, that explores the reunion of a couple who meet again 10 years after a tragedy.
The screening was held outside the festival’s competition lineup, which is being judged by a jury led by Iranian filmmaker Mohammad Rasoulof (The Seed of the Sacred Fig) and also includes Spanish auteur Albert Serra (Afternoons of Solitude), Dyrholm (The Girl With the Needle), VFX guru Jeff Desom (Everything Everywhere All at Once), Austrian actress Valerie Pachner (A Hidden Life), and screenwriter Paul Laverty (I, Daniel Blake). Instead, the movie unspooled in its Made in/With Luxembourg program.

There’s plenty of competition for the worst Chevy Chase comedy of all time. But why take anyone else’s word for it? According to Chase's own memoir, he knew that a reunion with a former Saturday Night Live cast mate would result in “the worst movie I would ever make.”
The movie in question was Nothing But Trouble, a 1991 comedy so terrible that it gets its own chapter in the book Box Office Poison, an ode to “the film industry’s most miserable failures.” It’s a mess of a movie, a horror-comedy written and directed by Chase’s old pal, Dan Aykroyd. He botched it so badly that no one ever let him behind the camera again.
Aykroyd based his supremely weird script on an incident when he was stopped for speeding in a small town in Upstate New York. He was hauled into court, where an 88-year-old judge gave him a $50 fine.

Scrubs was influential in many ways, and one of the properties it inspired shows just how much impact the medical sitcom had on popular culture at large, rather than just the TV industry. Every doctor in Scrubs brought something new to the table, and one in particular had a moment so cool that it was copied and pasted into a video game that took the world by storm in 2017 and is still massive today.
All nine seasons of Scrubs aired between 2001 and 2010, but the show was canceled after major changes made in the final run were not received well by the sitcom's devoted audience. With a Scrubs revival now confirmed to be on the way, showrunner Bill Lawrence has the opportunity to fix the mistakes with Scrubs season 9 and allow the cult classic to bow out on a much better note. U.S. director, screenwriter and producer Todd Haynes will be the president of the international jury of the 75th Berlin International Film Festival early next year.
“Todd Haynes is a dazzlingly gifted writer and director with an impressive range; his body of work is at once stylistically versatile but also unmistakably his,” said Berlinale director Tricia Tuttle on Thursday. “Ever since his debut feature Poison won the Teddy Award in 1991, the Berlinale has followed and loved his filmmaking.”
Over nearly 40 years, Haynes has been “one of the most bold and distinctive filmmaking voices in U.S.-American cinema, beloved for his great sensitivity in exploring the interior worlds of outsiders and women, and his fascinating investigations into gender and identity,” Berlinale organizers said. “His skill at creating complex characters has attracted many of the world’s finest actors. Stars such as Julianne Moore, Cate Blanchett, Rooney Mara, Kate Winslet, Anne Hathaway,...

Welcome to this review of this past Friday’s episode of Smackdown, right here on Nerdly. Let’s see what went down on this week’s show…
Match #1: Bayley def. Candice LeRae The following is courtesy of wwe.com:
Looking to get back to her winning ways, Bayley took on the surging Candice LeRae. Bayley tried getting the win with the top-rope elbow drop, but LeRae wisely rolled out of the way. After The Role Model chased The Poison Pixie around the ring, LeRae feigned an injury, but Bayley rolled up LeRae for the pinfall.
My Score: 2.5 out of 5 Match #2: #DIY def. Pretty Deadly The following is courtesy of wwe.com:
Tommaso Ciampa jumped on Pretty Deadly from the opening bell, launching Kit Wilson into the ring post and repeatedly slamming Elton Prince on the announce table. Ciampa went on a rampage, refusing to tag in Johnny Gargano...

Drummer Rikki Rockett has confirmed that Poison will regroup in 2026.
Rockett dropped the news in a new interview on Sirius Xm’s Trunk Nation. The drummer didn’t mince words, all but guaranteeing that the glam metal heroes will be back in action in 2026 — and with all band members on board.
Host Eddie Trunk prompted Rockett by reading a text message he’d received from frontman Bret Michaels before taping the episode.
“When I announced on socials about a week ago when I knew you were gonna come on today,” Trunk recounted, “Bret sent me a text, Bret Michaels a day or two ago, and he said, ‘Hey, I hear you’re gonna have Rikki Rockett on. Send him my love and tell him Poison 2026.’ What are your thoughts on that? Are you hopeful of that?”
Replied Rockett: “Oh yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah, absolutely. ’26 is for sure gonna happen and like,...

Match #1: Liv Morgan def. Tiffany Stratton The following is courtesy of wwe.com:
Despite Nia Jax distracting the official on the ring apron and kicking the Money in the Bank briefcase to Tiffany Stratton to use against Liv Morgan, the Women’s World Champion avoided the hit and rolled up her opponent for the three-count while grabbing the tights. When Morgan attempted to use the briefcase on Jax after the bell, though, the WWE Women’s Champion took it away from her and used it on Liv, Raquel Rodregez and “Dirty” Dominik Mysterio before crushing her WWE Crown Jewel opponent with the Annihilator.
