On the day of her marriage Hema Malini refused to shoot for Kranti. Hema shot for Razia Sultan in the morning and then sent the message to Manoj Kumar's unit that she was ill and did not want to shoot. The real reason Hema did this was because she was required to wear a white saree for a scene. The saree represented her being a widow. She did not want to do that scene on her wedding day . When Manoj Kumar later found out the real reason for her not reporting to the sets , he had a good laugh and call to wish Dharmendra on his wedding .

Alternate versions

Overrated

A near 3 hour melodrama with aging actors playing young men, a messed up storyline, and then we have Indian actors wearing blonde wigs and makeup to play Britishers. How this movie became a blockbuster is beyond me. It has to rank among the most overrated Bollywood movies of all time.
