Two of the main actors portraying "haafu" or characters of mixed ethnic backgrounds, Rikiya Yasuoka and Rikiya Yasuoka, were genuinely of mixed heritage. Rikiya Yasuoka was of Italian and Japanese parentage, while Ken Sanders is Afro-Japanese.
