    Hidden 1990's gem.

It can be argued that this show was a ripoff of "Love Connection", but "Studs" took dating to another level. Host Mark DeCarlo presided over the festivities as 2 guys talk about their dates with 3 women. The women make statements before the show and the guys have to guess which woman said which statement. A correct guess wins the guy a heart, and the most hearts gets the guy closer to a dream getaway of his choice with the woman of his choice (provided she picks him to be her date, of course.)

The gimmick of this show was some of the statements pre-recorded by the women before the show. These statements were edited to imply sexual innuendo that would get the audience roaring in anticipation (although there were one or two instances when the man and woman did take things to an intimate level.)

But one memorable episode had one young woman complaining that her date only spent six dollars on their date. She went on and on for about two minutes talking about her date being so cheap that she left with another guy. How embarrassing was that! I bet that guy wanted to crawl into a hole and stay there. But he rebounded and did get picked by one of the other ladies, so all was not lost.

I believe "Studs" only lasted about three seasons, but I would love to know if it is available on DVD. If it is, please let me know. Have a great weekend!

    A VERY guilty favorite

The premise was pretty simple--get two guys (or girls), give them a hundred dollars to date three girls (or guys). Then they go on TV and all three of the guys (or girls) are given quotes from the three they dated and have to pick who said what. It all led to some truly funny stories about the dates. The guy who picked the most correct quotes wins. Mark DeCarlo hosted the show.

OK--it's a stupid show but I LOVED it. DeCarlo was the perfect host--very quick, smart and funny with the comments. Also he kept things from getting TOO nasty if one date went terribly wrong (although those were the funniest). Also I hate these shows that go out of their way to humiliate people--this show didn't. NO ONE took it seriously and they also tried different ways to keep the show fresh--one had everybody in 1940s costumes and was shot in black & white, then the 50s, the 60s, the 70s and ended the week with the 80s! Again no masterpiece but I had a lot of fun watching this.
