Yes UT may have some eye candy, some voice taunts and some loudness and all of us were pretty taken in at first, readily willing to declare that this game was better than Quake-3. But 10000 frags later, you start to realise the truth - that there is no deathmatch experience quite like Quake-III arena and along with CounterStrike, Quake-III is indeed the best multiplayer game in the world, till date.
The speed, fluidity and physics of Quake-III are simply unbeatable and UT simply cannot compare. The CTF experience is total insanity, especially on smaller maps. Id have gone all out and refined the game so well that the deathmatch physics are so nearly perfect.

I easily gave Doom, Quake and Quake 2 a ten. These games were among the best games I have ever played. Q3 would have gotten a ten too, if only they would have added at least a few single player levels to explore. No single player levels, no monsters but improved graphics makes this a great game but lacking. Still, I would buy it in a heartbeat if I hadn't already.

John Carmack and his artists team made Quake III the best 3D graphic game yet. The textures and the artwork are insanely great. The effects are superb and the gameplay is outstanding.
Too bad it's only a multiplayer game with unrealistic weapons.

Quake-III Arena takes some time for both newbies and veterans to get used to but once that's done, there's no stopping the mindless and fluid rampage that explodes. id have made the interface to be simple and easy to use as people can get really impatient after getting addicted to playing this game. I would say that this game is easily the best multiplayer game ever made, only rivalled by Counter Strike and Command and Conquer. The weapons and physics in this game have very carefully been balanced for the best deathmatch possible. The level design is not great in terms of themes but are fun and extremely well designed for some fast paced action.
The 1999 "Quake III Arena" was more of a background for me. But we managed to experience the deadly battles. Although without much interest. No complicated intrigues, dialogues or stories - just shooting. That's how I remembered her decades ago.
The graphics looked decent at the time of release: futuristic levels, well-detailed character models. The game worked smartly, pleased with the effects of shots.
The gameplay is the quintessence of an arena shooter. Movement, precision, and reaction speed are the three pillars of Quake III Arena. Jumping, visual control of the surrounding space - the mechanics are addictive if you like competitive shootouts. However, the lack of a full-fledged campaign and the monotony of the matches made the game a passing game for me - I tried, but it didn't catch on.
Despite the simplicity of the concept, Quake III Arena gave the world one of the fastest shooters of its time. The developers have relied on pure skill. Only you, the arena and a set of deadly weapons, from the classic rocket launcher to futuristic guns that shoot energy bunches - all this is present.
The maps, although diverse in design, were primarily tailored to the frenzied dynamics. Dexterity, competent use of the character's capabilities and a well-thought-out route solved more than the arsenal itself.
As a result, "Quake III Arena" became a cult in the circles of fans of dynamic shootouts, but for me personally it did not turn out to be something special. Having fun running for a couple of matches was cool, but there was no desire to return to this toy again.
