Could have developed into something good

I don't really know why this series was cancelled at such an early stage. Was it really *that* bad? I was actually quite wary of what to expect from a show that starred Mike Damus (who, of course, starred in the rather unforgiveable and unsuccessful Teen Angel), but I was pleasantly surprised...with both the scripts AND his acting (I don't mean to be nasty, but I think he just made a bad mistake of taking the lead role in Teen Angel...)! While Brutally Normal does attempt to somewhat delve into teen issues, it also deals with those involving family crises/problems in a comedic way. Admittedly, this is quite an average show aimed at young people. Perhaps more depth and better storylines could have developed had it not been given the boot so early.

This is where WB got confusing to me.

They had great dramas, but nice comedies too. Yet somehow, they always cancelled those after a very short amount of time. And when it comes to « Brutally Normal », it was after only eight episodes, and I'm not sure it wasn't pulled off the air sooner... Considering how daring the pilot episode was, I can only assume the freaks that used to be a harmless community of « concerned parents ». Thought the show was too « problematic » and pushed for its cancellation. I admit, it was beginning to lose steam after episode two, but the fifth, and last one I could get my hands on, was very good. I also sensed it was by the same people who brought us Scrubs afterwards, and I was right. You even have the amusing Ken Jenkins, playing a professor there. I think it could've been paired with Popular, as both shows were very similar in tone. But it don't matter anymore. Popular was cancelled the following year, and this time feels more and more distant from how things are today...

Didn't deserve such swift, brutal cancellation

It was smart, it was quirky, and it was unceremoniously circular-filed after, what, three weeks on the air? Maybe WB, having promoted it as heavily as "The Phantom Menace," was peeved that it failed to grab monster boffo ratings right out of the gate, but that was no reason to kill it smack in the middle of sweeps month, especially when so many great shows lag for a season or two before they take off. A simple rescheduling probably would have done the trick.

Brutally Normal walked so Ned Declassified could run

To be honest last year when i find out this show because of Eddie and i saw it was cancelled i really thought it was because it was bad but when i finally watched it i literally enjoy it so much. Every actors had great chemistry together, could act very well too, i loved the hyper unrealistic moment, the characters are pretty descent too. The only "bad" thing on the show i would say is that ok yes there's some topics who didn't age very well now in 2025 not gonna lie but i really think overall they could have do something good back then. Anyways The WB please give me the unaired episodes i need it so bad 😭
