Principal photography has wrapped on “Think of England,” a satirical WWII drama from BAFTA-nominated writer/director Richard Hawkins.
The newly-announced film is set in the run up to the Allied invasion of France, when two British film projects are commission at the very highest level. For one, Winston Churchill himself insists that Laurence Olivier immediately embark upon a lavish production of Shakespeare’s “Henry V,” securing for him a state-of-the-art, 3-strip Technicolour camera and all of the available film stock.
As the description goes, “Think of England” is the story of the other, following a small and very disparate group of people sent to a remote Orkney island beach and tasked with a top secret mission — the making of pornographic films for the boys at the front. “For who knows how long this war still has to run, and fighting morale — as we learned only too well from the last one — is everything,...

Before he made headlines by returning to direct the upcoming X-Men movie X-Men: Days of Future Past, most of the attention on director Bryan Singer was due to Jack the Giant Slayer (formerly titled Jack the Giant Killer), his re-imagining of the “Jack and the Beanstalk” fairy tale as a fantasy epic.
Well, after nearly a year-long delay in release, it’s easy to see how Jack the Giant Slayer could’ve gotten lost in the shuffle. But a new trailer is here to remind us that it is indeed on the way in 2013.
It’s clear to see that Singer hopes for the film to be an epic adventure tale – in the vein of Disney’s live-action films like Pirates of the Caribbean or The Sorcerer’s Apprentice - but really, it looks like the film is more on the level of, say, Clash of Titans. While most of...

After several weeks of competition it was time for the remaining chefs to really make an impression. And on Wednesday night's Top Chef: All-Stars, they did that - literally. Split into teams, the contestants were tasked with replicating four famous chefs' signature styles and cooking up a dish the esteemed bunch would be proud to serve at their various New York City restaurants. First, though, for a Quickfire challenge, David Chang (of Momofuku fame) paid a visit. The contestants were split into four teams to begin a Top Chef favorite: the mise en place relay race, in which they...

Rachel McAdams as a contestant on My Antonio, the new VH1 reality show in which women compete to go out with former Calvin Klein underwear model Anotnio Sabato Jr.? Like that would ever happen. Looking for a high-impact way to show off your company's environmental commitment? Consider business cards etched onto laser cut leaves.
Brazilian Design firm Tatil Design came up with the idea as a way to show how design can be used as a tool to make a product with a high sensorial impact but low environmental impact. Tatil cooked up the leaves--dubbed "Nature Medium"-- for the 55th Cannes Advertising Festival to promote their "Designing Naturally" workshop. Designers at the firm created the business cards by taking fallen leaves and laser cutting them with designs that showed off the workshop's intent--i.e. dancers, burgers, soup cans, and animals. The leaves were such a hit that the company won the Bronze Award for the 2009 International Design Excellence Awards in Eco Design.
Tatil doesn't sell the laser-cut leaves, but enterprising business owners who don't mind spending lots of cash on business cards that...

Alistair McGowan has claimed that BBC chiefs are blocking his hopes for a TV comeback. The impressionist planned to resurrect his comedy show The Big Impression following the programme's four-year break from screens. However, corporation executives are said to be showing little interest in a possible comeback for the series, which also starred Ronni Ancona. "We'd like to go back to Big Impression if the door was open," McGowan told The Mirror. "I felt I had taken impressions as far as I could at the time. We'd run out of people to do and it takes a while for new people to come along and that's why I stopped (more)...
