I was so very young when I first viewed the film. Now that I am a little older, I really can appreciate the story line and the plight of the characters. Recently, I was at a family gathering and had a first hand opportunity to witness the impact of each generation upon the other. The importance of giving voice to silent hurt is such an intense message. The understanding of what the past means with respect to where one wants to take their future is equally necessary. Understanding simply must be had. Nicole's character "Mavis" plays the heart strings of hurting families that long for expression, closure and "loud love." And as a great one once said: "deep calls out to deep"
