Back in June, IndieCollect, an organization which advocates for conservation of, and access to, the entire field of independent cinema, created a Kickstarter campaign to restore early Christine Vachon and Todd Haynes films and find two “lost” movies from the duo.

Now, IndieCollect has announced the they have found Vachon’s 1984 picture “A Man In Your Room.”

“Inspired by our efforts and your enthusiasm, Killer Films scoured its deep archive and – lo and behold! – discovered the prints of three films directed by Christine: ‘Days are Numbered,’ ‘The Way of the Wicked’ and a film we all thought was lost, ‘A Man In Your Room,'” Sandra Schulberg of IndieCollect said in a statement. “This means every backer getting the complete collection will be getting 9 films!”

The second film they still need to find is Haynes’ “Assassins: A Film Concerning Rimbaud” (1985), which depicts the poet as a homosexual outlaw.

For as beloved as his features may be, Todd Haynes boasts a repertoire of short films no less deserving of attention — attention they might receive if they were more readily accessible. A new Kickstarter campaign has been started to revive early films from Christine Vachon and Todd Haynes. Created by IndieCollect, the campaign hopes to scan and restore the projects produced from the duo’s Apparatus banner. They are also in search for two more productions that are “lost” that they would like to find and scan. The films are Christine Vachon’s “A Man In Your Room” (1984), about a priest haunted by his desire for an impish young man and Haynes’ first film “Assassins: A Film Concerning Rimbaud” (1985), which depicts the poet as a homosexual outlaw.

IndieCollect, which advocates for conservation of, and access to, the entire field of independent cinema, has found the master picture and sound elements for eight of the shorts Vachon and Haynes produced in the ‘80s and ‘90s with Barry Ellsworth. A couple titles that are in the collection include “Anemone Me,” “La Divina,” “Oreos With Attitude...
