Image
Spoiler Alert: The following reveals major plot points for the Dexter: Resurrection series premiere

Michael C. Hall is back as Dexter Morgan in Showtime’s Dexter: Resurrection, having cheated death again and ready to slay more serial killer butt. The first two episodes are available to stream now.

The new spinoff follows the events of Dexter: New Blood, which ended with Dexter’s son, Harrison (Jack Alcott), shooting his very first serial killer, his dad. Dexter decided it was time he be taken out, having reemerged with his dark passenger, unable to release the monster inside. It’s part of the code, after all.

In the first moments of Dexter: Original Sin, it’s revealed that the titular killer had survived the attempt on his life and had been rushed to the hospital. The prequel spinoff, starring Patrick Gibson as young Dexter, follows the serial killer in training as...

Solo Leveling No Longer Has the Highest-Rated Anime Episode of 2025
Image
Solo Leveling Season 2, which made waves while it aired earlier this year, no longer holds the record for the highest-rated anime episode of 2025 on IMDb, losing out to an unexpected contender from the Summer 2025 season.

The first episode of Tokopi's Original Sin, which aired on June 27, 2025, has now achieved an impressive IMDb rating of 9.8 based on votes from approximately 2,000 viewers. A staggering 84% of these raters awarded the episode a perfect score of 10. Michael C. Hall Explains Why Dexter: Resurrection Really Retconned New Blood's Divisive Ending 3 Years Later
Image
Dexter: Resurrection star Michael C. Hall details why his iconic serial killer is returning after seemingly being killed in a divisive finale. Dexter ran for eight seasons from 2006-2013, where the titular character went into hiding after bidding farewell to his son, Harrison. He returned in Dexter: New Blood in 2021, where he is seemingly killed by a gunshot wound by Harrison. Dexter: Resurrection premieres on July 11 on Paramount+ with Showtime.

In an interview with ScreenRant's Liam Crowley, Hall discusses why Dexter is coming back after seemingly being killed. He admits that he thought the character was dead, but was interested in the idea of what a second chance would look like for Dexter.

He describes the character as being "reborn" and that he will not only be a more streamlined killer, but will also try to grow his humanity by connecting with Harrison. Check out his quote below:

The Darkest Anime of 2025 Just Stole One of Solo Leveling's Biggest Records
Image
The following article contains a discussion of bullying, suicide, and other intense subject matter.

Takopi’s Original Sinis one of the biggest anime of the season, and it’s even beaten one of Solo Leveling’s biggest records. Even with how stacked the summer season is, Takopi’s Original Sin was quick to make a name for itself for its gorgeous visuals and dark subject matter, and there are few anime that are receiving anywhere close to its level of attention right now.

Takopi’s Original Sin is proving to be a massive hit, and there’s no better proof of that than its IMDb score. The series premiere already debuted with an impressive 9.6 rating, and as the series has continued to grow in popularity, Takopi’s Original Sin episode #1 now sits at a 9.8 rating, even higher than the Solo Leveling season 2 finale at a 9.7. That means that Takopi’s...

This Cute-Looking 2025 Anime Has A 9.3 IMDb Score—But It’s Way Darker Than You’d Think
Image
Takopi’s Original Sin (Photo Credit – Netflix)

Crunchyroll landed a heavy hitter this summer with Takopi’s Original Sin, and in only six episodes, the series has already managed to leave a serious mark. The premiere alone caught fire almost instantly, with its first episode scoring a 9.8 on IMDb and an overall score of 9.3, which is one of the highest ratings for any show this year. However, the reaction is not surprising as it is the kind of anime that grabs attention from the first frame and doesn’t let go.

Takopi’s Original Sin’s Episode One Sets The Tone With A Tragic Twist

The look of the show is striking. It is bright and almost childlike in style, but behind that colorful surface lies something a lot more intense. What starts out feeling like a familiar sci-fi setup, with a wide-eyed alien named Takopi arriving on Earth, slowly reveals something much heavier.

The following article contains mentions of bullying, abuse, and suicide.

Warning: Contains spoilers for Takopi's Original Sin episode #1.Takopi’s Original Sin is as beautiful as it is tragic, and it has the IMDb score to prove it. Takopi’s Original Sin is already looking to be one of the best anime of the year, and there’s no better proof of that than the first episode. Takopi’s Original Sin Episode 2: Release Date, Spoilers and What to Expect
Image
The cursed first episode of Takopi’s Original Sin was released on June 27, 2025, and the wait for episode 2 has begun. The anime began on a deceptively positive note, with the combination of a kind human kid and an alien who offers various gadgets to make her happy. The premise successfully tricked the audience into believing it would be a happy-go-lucky series.

Yet, the reality crashed in soon after. Shizuka isn’t an average excited fourth grader, and the alien soon faces how harsh life on Earth can be. The episode features severe bullying and its consequences, as well as a heavy dose of dysfunctional families. The result is a protagonist who bears everything till she can’t.

‘Takopi’s Original Sin’ Is Exactly the Anime We’ve Been Missing for Ages
Image
Spoiler Alert !!!The following article contains massive spoilers for Episode 1 of Takopi's Original Sin.

Trigger Warning: The following article contains mentions of self-harm, bullying, suicide, and mental illness, which may be sensitive to a few readers. Kindly proceed with caution.

Saying that Takopi’s Original Sin is one of the darkest shows in anime history would be an understatement. Takopi’s Original Sin is not your typical lighthearted anime. The story dives headfirst into themes like bullying, suicide, self-harm, and mental illness (just recounting it makes us tear up).

The story follows Shizuka, a young girl who encounters an octopus-like alien from Happy Planet. This is where the fun ends, because the premiere shows Shizuka taking her own life. With themes and narratives like this, Takopi’s Original Sin offers a necessary exploration of complex issues. Ones that other Shonen manga don’t explore.

Dana Carvey Says He Knew Biden Was ‘Compromised Mentally’ While Playing Him on ‘SNL,’ but Mocking Decline Was ‘Delicate’ | Video
Image
Dana Carvey, who in recent seasons of “Saturday Night Live” has guested to spoof President Joe Biden, said he could see the president undergoing some sort of mental decline towards the end of his re-election campaign — but poking fun at the politician for being “compromised mentally” was a “delicate” comedy act.

“I knew that he was compromised mentally, I mean, it was obvious. But it was a delicate thing in the comedy world,” Carvey shared on a recent episode of his “Fly on the Wall” podcast with David Spade and guest Julie Bowen. “There were a lot of people who did not want to do anything that would kind of ding him in an awkward way.”

Biden’s age and folksy phrasing have been late night fodder for years, but such jokes took on a more urgent, and potentially “awkward,” meaning last year following the president’s first debate performance against Donald Trump,...

Dexter: Resurrection star Michael C. Hall explains why his serial killer character has remained popular. Debuting in Dexter in 2006, Hall plays the titular serial killer with a moral code. The series ran for an impressive eight seasons on Showtime. However, Dexter's original finale is infamous for its poor reception. The character would return years later for Dexter: New Blood in 2022 and make an appearance in the pilot of Dexter: Original Sin, along with narrating the show in 2024. Now, Hall is set to return in the upcoming Dexter: Resurrection.

In an interview on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, Hall discusses why viewers connect with his character. He believes that people can relate to the character because he is both capable, but flawed in many ways. Hall also acknowledges that viewers enjoy watching Dexter get out of jams, and ultimately take out villains. Check out his full response below:

You can’t keep Dexter Morgan down.

That’s the main takeaway from the official trailer for Dexter: Resurrection, premiering July 11, on Paramount+ with Showtime.

The first footage dropped Saturday during a Ccxp Panel for the series in Mexico City, and it looks like another fun entry in the serial killer franchise.

(Paramount+/Screenshot)

The series is described as a continuation of Dexter: New Blood, and “takes place weeks after Dexter Morgan (Hall) takes a bullet to the chest from his own son, as he awakens from a coma to find Harrison (Jack Alcott) gone without a trace.”

“Realizing the weight of what he put his son through, Dexter sets out for New York City determined to find him and make things right,” the logline teases.

Michael C. Hall in Dexter (2006)
Dexter: Resurrection gets a premiere date and a trailer!
Michael C. Hall in Dexter (2006)
For eight seasons and 96 episodes, from 2006 to 2013, the series Dexter ran on Showtime, telling the story of Dexter Morgan, a blood spatter analyst for the Miami Metro Police Department who is also a vigilante serial killer. Clyde Phillips was showrunner on Dexter for the first four seasons, and in 2021 he and Showtime brought us the revival series Dexter: New Blood… which, for a time, also seemed to be the end of it all. But that’s not the case. Showtime has tasked Phillips with continue to build up the Dexter franchise, with the prequel series Dexter: Original Sin premiering back in December and a New Blood follow-up called Dexter: Resurrection, which heard was heading for a June premiere date. It’s actually going to miss June by a handful of days, as Showtime has revealed (and trades like The Hollywood Reporter have confirmed) that Dexter: Resurrection is going to premiere with two episodes on Friday,...

June 19 Is a Dark Day for ‘Dexter’ Fans After Showtime’s Cruel Move Ahead of ‘Dexter: Resurrection’ Release
Image
While fans rejoice at their favorite vigilante serial killer’s return to television with the upcoming Dexter: Resurrection, Showtime has made a disappointing move nearly a month ahead of the new series’ release, as recent reports revealed that Showtime has decided to pull the flagship series from Netflix.

Originally premiering in 2006, the crime drama has enjoyed a successful eight-season run before concluding in 2013. Yet, more than a decade later, the buzz around Dexter hasn’t faded. Amid such renewed hype, Showtime’s decision to remove the series from Netflix could be disappointing, especially for fans hoping to revisit or catch up on the story before the new chapter begins.

Showtime’s cold-blooded move ahead of Dexter: Resurrection release

Fans of the Showtime hit, Dexter, may have only a few days left to revisit the iconic vigilante’s story before Dexter: Resurrection premieres, especially as the original series is set to leave Netflix in the U.

Sarah Michelle Gellar Promises ‘Buffy’ Reboot Will Honor the Late Michelle Trachtenberg
Image
After the tragic passing of Michelle Trachtenberg earlier this year, fans have been wondering how the long-awaited and highly-anticipated Buffy the Vampire Slayer sequel series would handle the absence of her character, Dawn. We finally have a bit of an idea after Gellar sat down with her former Buffy co-star, Alyson Hannigan, to chat with Parade about the Ask2BSure campaign. Acknowledging that the series will — in one way or another — pay homage to the late actress who appeared as Gellar’s on-screen sister, the Dexter: Original Sin star said, “Yeah, we’ll do something. We’ll do what’s appropriate.” Backing Gellar’s response, Hannigan added, “I’m sure they’ll handle it with utter grace."

Trachtenberg, who was a member of the original show’s cast during its final three seasons, sadly passed away back in February at the incredibly young age of 39. In the days that followed,...

Jon Stewart's harsh advice for Democrats moving on from Joe Biden
Image
Jon Stewart is giving out some tough love to the Democrats. The Daily Show host offered a three-word slogan for liberals looking to regroup in the wake of the 2024 election and bombshell reporting about President Joe Biden.

Stewart responded strongly to the new book Original Sin from CNN reporters Jake Tapper and Alex Thompson about President Biden's cognitive decline and efforts to keep him in the 2024 race. Stewart argued the journalists had a responsibility to share the information they learned in real time, rather than wait for a book deal.

So where do Democrats go from here after such a damning report? According to Stewart, it's time for the party to move past the status quo and reinvent itself.

“We need to overcome, I think, the stink,” Stewart said on his Weekly Show podcast. “By the way, if that is not a Democrat’s slogan in 2028, something has gone terribly wrong: ‘Overcome The Stink,...

‘Meet the Press’ Special Edition Will Examine the Rise of Gen Z Loneliness in America
Image
“Meet the Press” on Sunday will take a break from its usual focus on the latest in political news to air a special edition of the program that examines mental health and, in particular, the growing number of young people who say they are suffering from loneliness.

Moderator Kristen Welker, in her opening comments at the top of the show that were first seen by TheWrap, will lay out the disheartening situation; studies show two-thirds of Gen Z’ers are dealing with loneliness while youth suicide rates have increased dramatically since the start of the 21st century.

“After no significant change between 2001 and 2007, the suicide rate among young people ages 10-24 increased 62% from 2007 through 2021, from 6.8 deaths to 11.0 per 100,000,” the CDC found in 2023.

Welker will discuss the issue with several guests — including Dr. Vivek Murthy, the former U.S. Surgeon General who served in the position twice, between 2014-2017 and again from 2021 to earlier this year.

Kamala Harris Banned Joe Biden From Campaign Events After He Put On ‘Trump 2024’ Hat At Photo Op
Image
Kamala Harris cut ties with Joe Biden after an embarrassing gaffe at a Harris campaign event.

At the height of 2024’s presidential race, Biden appeared at a Pennsylvania firehouse for a commemoration of the 23rd anniversary of the 9/11 attacks. As he posed with people sporting pro-Trump gear, Biden briefly donned a crowd member’s ‘Trump 2024’ visor.

Biden told the audience member, “I need that hat.” When the person yelled, “Put it on!” Biden responded, “I ain’t going that far.” However, he then proceeded to put the hat on over the Station 627 ball cap he was wearing to honor the volunteer fire company.

The Trump campaign immediately jumped on the opportunity to suggest that even the Democratic president supported Trump.

According to the new bombshell book Original Sin, co-authored by Jake Tapper and Alex Thompson, Harris – who became the Democratic nominee in July following Biden ending his re-election bid – asked her advisers incredulously,...

‘The View’ Cohosts Erupt Over Jake Tapper’s Biden Book Claims

The first “Hot Topic” of the day on Tuesday’s (May 20) edition of The View devolved into a bit of a shouting session as the cohosts — Whoopi Goldberg, Sara Haines, Joy Behar, Sunny Hostin, and Alyssa Farah Griffin — weighed in on Jake Tapper‘s new book, Original Sin, which features claims that Democrats concealed Joe Biden‘s allegedly declining condition. After presenting a bad review from Joe Biden’s granddaughter and The Daily Show, Goldberg asked the panel, “Should anonymous sources who talked to Tapper have spoken up about their concerns while he was in office? And my other question is: Why is this important to know now?” Behar answered the latter first by insisting that it isn’t. “We got a lot of stuff to be concerned about at the moment. Jon Stewart Slams CNN for Relentlessly Promoting Book on Joe Biden’s Declining Health Amid Prostate Cancer Diagnosis: ‘Doing the Story Seems Almost Disrespectful’
Image
On this week’s episode of “The Daily Show,” Jon Stewart slammed CNN for relentlessly plugging Jake Tapper and Alex Thompson’s book “Original Sin,” which outlines the decline of Joe Biden’s health, amid the former president’s prostate cancer diagnosis.

Stewart opened the segment by playing clips of CNN’s Tapper plugging his book over and over and over again, teasing that readers will “not believe” what he dug up.

“Don’t news people have to tell you what they know when they find it out?” Stewart asked. “Isn’t that the difference between news and a secret? ‘You won’t believe what we found out.’ No, that’s why I watch breaking news.”

Stewart then played a compilation of news outlets reacting to “Original Sin,” and all the different labels they placed on the revelations contained within it. Among them were “bombshell allegations,” “damming claims,” “damaging new...

CNN host Jake Tapper’s new book, Original Sin, has set off a political firestorm. The book claims that President Joe Biden’s cognitive decline was more severe behind the scenes than what was publicly visible and that those in Biden’s inner circle were engaged in a cover-up to hide the extent of his diminishing memory.

“We Can Make Healthier Choices”: How Introducing Joel’s Father in ‘The Last of Us’ Will Help Ellie Be a Better Dad
Image
Joel (Pedro Pascal) departed The Last of Us via a brutal death at the hands of Abby (Kaitlyn Dever) at the end of Season 2, Episode 2, but he returned this past Sunday in the form of beautiful flashbacks with Ellie (Bella Ramsey). Joel is a beloved figure in The Last of Us anthology, but few would argue how his merits as a father help to make him a good person. The most recent episode of The Last of Us introduced a new character, Joel’s father Javier, who is portrayed by Tony Dalton. During a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, The Last of Us creator Neil Druckmann spoke about this change and how it constantly evolved as the team continued to work on it:

"As we kept working on that scene, it became about something else, which is not only generational trauma, but generational repair and hope."

While nothing can excuse...

While discussing Jake Tapper’s bombshell book “Original Sin,” which details former President Joe Biden’s cognitive decline over the years and the Democratic Party’s supposed attempts to cover it up, “The View” co-host Alyssa Farah Griffin called out the blue team as the main reason why President Donald Trump was able to make his return to the Oval Office.

“This table spends a lot of time criticizing Donald Trump, and a lot of it is very valid and needs to be happen, but it is a fact his approval rating is 39%,” Griffin explained on Friday’s episode. “However, Democrats’ is 27%. People felt gaslit and lied to.”

Image
Aides to former President Joe Biden privately discussed putting him in a wheelchair should he have managed to win a second term, according to new details from an upcoming book by CNN’s Jake Tapper and Axios’ Alex Thompson.

According to details published today by Axios, in Original Sin: President Biden’s Decline, Its Cover-Up, and His Disastrous Choice to Run Again, Thompson and Tapper write that concern about Biden’s declining health was so acute among his staff that “there were internal discussions about putting the president in a wheelchair,...

Patrick Dempsey Is Returning to TV With New Series ‘Memory of a Killer’
Image
Patrick Dempsey is headed back to network television in a major way. Fox has officially ordered the drama series Memory of a Killer for the 2025–2026 season, with Dempsey set to take on the complex lead role. The announcement came Monday ahead of the network’s upfront presentation in New York, marking a high-profile return to broadcast for the actor best known as McDreamy on Grey’s Anatomy. Although, it must be said, this does not sound very McDreamy at all.

“Memory of a Killer is a propulsive series with a noisy, unrelenting character hook that immediately grabbed our attention,” said Michael Thorn, president of Fox Television Network. “In the spirit of 24 and House, we’re introducing a daring new signature Fox lead, a complicated antihero facing unimaginable danger.”

Memory of a Killer will be Dempsey’s first broadcast lead role since his long run on ABC’s Grey’s Anatomy, where he played Dr.

“This is Deb’s origin story too”: ‘Dexter: Original Sin’ Season 2 Can Focus on Debra and That is the Biggest Tribute to Jennifer Carpenter
Image
Portrayed by the immensely talented Jennifer Carpenter, in the original series, Debra was truly integral to the show’s huge success. Her performance not only offered emotional intensity and complexity to the show but also deviated from the otherwise dark themes of the show. With Season 2 of Dexter: Original Sin officially in the works, creators have the opportunity to properly explore Debra’s backstory, honoring the legacy Carpenter has left behind.

With Original Sin being renewed for a second installment, anticipation and excitement among fans are at an all-time high. The series will dive deeper into exploring the inner workings of Dexter Morgan, a serial killer in the making. However, that’s not all. Another equally compelling opportunity of delving deeper into the formative years of his sister, Debra Morgan’s life stands as a promising arc.

Dexter Morgan is back — again — and this time, survival is only the beginning.

Showtime announced today that Dexter: Resurrection, the latest installment in the ever-evolving Dexter universe, will premiere with two episodes on Friday, July 11, for Paramount+ subscribers with the Paramount+ with Showtime plan.

The new chapter, created by Emmy-nominated showrunner Clyde Phillips, picks up just weeks after the explosive ending of Dexter: New Blood.

‘Dexter: Resurrection’ Is Reviving My Favorite Ritual of the Serial Killer That the Show Had Forgotten About
Image
As a Dexter fan, I am looking forward to the vigilante serial killer’s return in Dexter: Resurrection, especially after everything Original Sin has set up, and now with a new tease hinting at the return of Dexter’s trophy ritual we’ve known since the original series.

In the original show, Dexter kept a blood slide from each of his victims as a trophy, a practice he eventually abandoned. However, a recent on-set photo suggests that he might be returning to his old ways once again.

Dexter: Resurrection on set photo hints at Dexter’s going back to his old ways

Dexter: Resurrection is the upcoming series in Showtime’s flagship franchise, after the success of Original Sin. This new chapter will pick up after the events of New Blood, where we last saw Dexter (Michael C. Hall) getting shot by his son, Harrison.

Michael C. Hall Returning in ‘Dexter: Resurrection’ Is Putting a Massive Task for ‘Original Sin’ Season 2 That I Don’t Really Like
Image
Following the success of Original Sin, Michael C. Hall, who famously portrayed Dexter, is set to return in the new sequel series, Dexter: Resurrection. While I’m excited about this, I also have some apprehension.

With Original Sin exploring Dexter’s younger self, I can’t help but wonder how it would impact the character in Resurrection, especially with Hall suggesting that the prequel will influence his portrayal of Dexter, which presents an intriguing yet challenging prospect for Original Sin’s upcoming second season.

Dexter: Original Sin adds a new layer to Michael C. Hall’s vigilante serial killer

Since his introduction, Dexter has always been an intriguing and complex character, with Michael C. Hall brilliantly adapting to this peculiar role. As he prepares to reprise the character in Dexter: Resurrection, he shared some insight into what fans can expect.

Director really wanted this dead I Know What You Did Last Summer character to return for the sequel
Image
I Know What You Did Last Summer writer-director Jenn Kaytin Robinson wanted Sarah Michelle Gellar to return for the legacy sequel just as badly as the fans, if not more.

"I tried, okay? I harassed her!" Robinson revealed during a new interview with Entertainment Weekly.

Alas, it wasn't meant to be. According to the filmmaker, Gellar was adamant that her character, Helen Shivers, was dead, telling Robinson, "I am dead. I am Sarah Dead Gellar."

To Gellar's credit, bringing Helen back in any meaningful way would be next to impossible. Her character's dead body is shown frozen on ice, another fact the actress made sure to remind Robinson of. Despite that, the director did say she pitched some "crazy s---," including the possibility of Helen being in hiding all this time.

Unless Gellar pulled a Ringer twin twist at some point between 1997 and the new movie, that wouldn't work either.

Dexter Morgan is returning — again — and this time, he has plenty of celebrity friends.

Coming on the heels of the prequel series Dexter: Original Sin, below is a first look at Showtime’s upcoming sequel, Dexter: Resurrection.

The show returns Michael C. Hall as the vigilante serial killer character. The series picks up immediately after the events of the 2021 limited series Dexter: New Blood, where Dexter Morgan is revived after being shot by his son, Harrison (Jack Alcott). The series follows Dexter “as he grapples with his actions and the potential consequences, including the return of his late adoptive father, Harry (James Remar), and a possible new mission from an underground network.”

Is Dexter: Original Sin Season 2 Happening? Know All About It
Image
Everything you need to know about Dexter: Original Sin Season 2(Photo Credit –Prime Video)

Well, let’s be honest, fans of the Dexter franchise are dying to see more of young Dexter Morgan’s twisted journey. The prequel series, Dexter: Original Sin, starring Patrick Gibson as a fresh-faced (but still very stab-happy) Dexter, dives into his early days at the Miami Metro Police Department, long before he became the cold, calculated killer we first met in Dexter.

After the mixed reception of Dexter: New Blood, many thought Showtime had buried the franchise for good. But nope, they’re all in on Dexter-mania, with Original Sin setting the stage for the upcoming Dexter: Resurrection (which will finally bring Michael C. Hall back). Showtime clearly has big plans, and with season 2 officially on the way, Dexter: Original Sin isn’t just surviving, it’s thriving. Time to sharpen those scalpels,...

Dexter: Original Sin renewed for season 2
Image
Dexter Morgan’s origin story will continue as it’s been announced that Dexter: Original Sin has been renewed for season 2 at Paramount+ with Showtime.

The prequel is set in 1991 and follows Dexter (Patrick Gibson) as he transitions from student to avenging serial killer. “When his bloodthirsty urges can’t be ignored any longer, Dexter must learn to channel his inner darkness,” reads the official description. “With the guidance of his father, Harry (Christian Slater), he adopts a Code designed to help him find and kill people who deserve to be eliminated from society without getting on law enforcement’s radar. This is a particular challenge for young Dexter as he begins a forensics internship at the Miami Metro Police Department.” A writers room for the new season will begin work soon, with production dates set to be announced later.

I’ll admit that I wasn’t overly keen on...

The Fate of ‘Dexter: Original Sin’ Has Been Decided
Image
Paramount and Showtime make a killer team. Thanks to their work, the first season of Dexter: Original Sin was a massive success, and with its widespread popularity, the title has landed a follow-up season. Today, the folks behind the hit series have revealed that Paramount+ with Showtime will be welcoming the Patrick Gibson-led production back, with Clyde Phillips set to return as showrunner and executive producer. While specifics haven’t been laid out at this time, we can safely assume that Gibson will reprise his role as the young forensic intern in training, alongside other Season 1 favorites, including Christian Slater (Blink Twice) and Molly Brown (Evil), while Michael C. Hall, the man who originated the beloved killer, will likely return as the narrator.

On top of the good news about the renewal, Paramount also dropped some rather impressive stats that spell out precisely why the Dexter prequel series...

‘Dexter: Original Sin’ Renewed for Season 2 at Paramount+ With Showtime
Michael C. Hall and Patrick Gibson in Dexter: Original Sin (2024)
The “Dexter” mythology continues. “Dexter: Original Sin” has been renewed for a Season 2 at Paramount+ with Showtime.

Showrunner and executive producer Clyde Phillips will return to the series. Though production dates have yet to be set, TheWrap has learned the writers room for this upcoming season will be opening soon.

This renewal is far from surprising given the popularity of Season 1. That installment was the most streamed Showtime original that the network has seen in 10 years, a boost that likely has to do with Showtime’s streaming options moving exclusively to the more robust Paramount+ in 2023. The season finale for Season 1 scored 2.68 million global viewers, making it the most-watched episode of the season. The series also saw over 15 million engagements across social media during Season 1.

Set in Miami in the ’90s, “Original Sin” follows Dexter (Patrick Gibson) as a student. But when he’s unable to contain his urge to kill any longer,...

‘Dexter: Original Sin’ Renewed for Second Season at Paramount+ With Showtime
Image
The young Dexter Morgan’s transformation into a serial killer will continue into a second season.

Paramount+ With Showtime has renewed Dexter: Original Sin for season two, following the conclusion of its 10-episode first installment in February. A writers room for the second season is set to begin work soon, with creator and showrunner Clyde Phillips again at the helm.

Original Sin‘s first season takes place in 1991 and focuses on Dexter (Patrick Gibson) as he makes his first kills, guided by his father, Harry (Christian Slater), while also working as an intern in the Miami Metro Police Department.

Phillips told The Hollywood Reporter midway through the season that the prequel allowed him and his fellow writers the chance to highlight the origins of key elements of the Dexter flagship series, which stars Michael C. Hall as the adult Dexter (Hall also narrates Original Sin). “This season’s a whole Easter egg hunt,...

Dexter, based on the homicidal tendencies of a psychopath who is a forensic expert by day and a murderous anti-hero by night, has been going on for 8 seasons and the world is simply loving it.

With Michael C. Hall portraying the lead role of Dexter Morgan alongside Clyde Phillips as its showrunner, things were going great until Dexter: New Blood was released. Despite the negative ratings, we’ve got trust in Michael C. Hall that he will once again shine in Dexter: Resurrection.

Throughout its long run, the Showtime hit Dexter has had its highs and lows, with the Season 6 finale standing out for one of its most controversial moments. While the twist was difficult for viewers to process, it was just as emotionally taxing for the actors, particularly Jennifer Carpenter.

Jimmy Smits and John Lithgow are back for Dexter: Resurrection
Image
For eight seasons and 96 episodes, from 2006 to 2013, the series Dexter ran on Showtime, telling the story of Dexter Morgan, a blood spatter analyst for the Miami Metro Police Department who is also a vigilante serial killer. Clyde Phillips was showrunner on Dexter for the first four seasons, and in 2021 he and Showtime brought us the revival series Dexter: New Blood… which, for a time, also seemed to be the end of it all. But that’s not the case. Showtime has tasked Phillips with continue to build up the Dexter franchise, with the prequel series Dexter: Original Sin premiering back in December and a New Blood follow-up called Dexter: Resurrection heading for a June premiere. Filming on Dexter: Resurrection is currently underway – and Dexter isn’t the only one being resurrected for this show. Deadline reports that Jimmy Smits and John Lithgow, who played Miguel Prado in Dexter season 3 and Arthur Mitchell (a.
